For those of you venturing into space, visiting space stations or other space object POIs, then you can dock and visit them, including boarding enemy ships, rescuing hostages, and more. However, it isn’t obvious how you dock in Starfield, which we are going to assist you with.
How to Dock in Starfield¶

To safely dock in Starfield, simply approach the space station or other point of interest, and lock onto it with your ship. When you approach the dockable POI, you may notice a new icon pop up telling you to dock. Follow the button on screen, and you should be able to dock by holding the relevant button or key. You typically need to be about 500m to get this prompt, but you can hail the ship from a much more distant point to verify if you’re locked on properly.
Once you’ve engaged docking procedures, you will then load into the docked position, and have the option to get out of your seat, exit docking or enter the space station or port. When you wish to return, get back into the cockpit, and then leave the dock.
Alternatively, you can try to get as close to the space station or other dockable point and get your ship as close as possible and engage a manual dock yourself. This may lead to to endless ramming space steel and battering your ship to pieces, so, we advise not doing that. So, remember to lock on, then press the dock button to safely dock in Starfield. Otherwise you might end up like Lirik blowing his ship up.
