The Hammer Falls Walkthrough: Spare or Kill Ron Hope in Starfield

By
Shane Williams

After you’ve tracked down Paxton Hull in the previous quest, First to Fight, First to Die, you’ll have discovered that the person that hired the First all along was "Ron Hope" iconRon Hope himself, so it’s time to pay a visit to HopeTown and put an end to his misconduct. This page will provide you with the necessary information on what happens if you save or kill him.

Speak with Ron Hope in the HopeTech Factory.

How to Start The Hammer Falls Faction Quest in Starfield

Before you can start the Hammer Falls Faction Quest you’ll need to complete the previous quest, First to Fight, First to Die and you can do that by following the steps on our First to Fight, First to Die Walkthrough: Where to Find Paxton Hull in Starfield. Upon completing the mission, head to HopeTown which is located in the Polvo System, then you’ll want to activate your scanner by pressing Xbox-BumperLeft and follow it into the factory. When you arrive, you’ll want to speak with Ron Hope and inform him that you know that he hired the First.

Spare or Kill Ron Hope in Starfield

There are a couple of options after this information has come to light and you can find out what the outcomes are below:

Should You Take Ron Hope’s Bribe

Obviously Ron Hope doesn’t want this information to surface, so he offers you a 20,000 Credit bribe to keep your mouth shut. However, you can almost double this bribe by participating in a "Negotiation" iconNegotiation. Going down this route means you’ll allow Ron to keep running HopeTech as long as he stops hiring mercenaries, but your companions won’t agree with your choice which is something you’ll need to think about if you’re trying to romance them.

Alternatively, you can avoid taking his bribe but he’ll still try and make you lie for him by guilt-tripping you into thinking that people will suffer because he thinks if he goes down then people will stop going to HopeTech. Again, if you fall for his act and still lie for him then your companions won’t like it and Ron will be able to stay in power.

Should You Kill Ron Hope in Starfield

If you decide to not lie for Ron Hope even with a bribe, then your final option is to kill him and this is a choice your companions will agree with. However, doing this will mean you’ll need to engage in a firefight with him and his security team, so you’ll want to make sure you’re stocked up on ammo and healing items before going through with it. Regardless of the choice to spare or kill Ron Hope the overall outcome isn’t something you need to worry about too much, so it’s safe to make your choice from a role-playing perspective.

What’s The Reward For Completing The Freestar Collective Faction Questline in Starfield?

Once you’ve finished dealing with Ron Hope, return to "Akila City" iconAkila City and inform the mayor to bring the questline to a close. Here you’ll be presented with a few rewards and they are the following: Class A Ship: "Star Eagle" iconStar Eagle Ship, "Ranger Spacesuit" iconRanger Spacesuit, Pack, and Helmet. With this questline at its conclusion you can now move onto the other faction quest lines or continue with the main story.

Starfield is an action role-playing game from Bethesda Game Studios set in a futuristic interpretation of space exploration and colonization. Earth has long been abandoned, but there are plenty of other planets in different star systems where humans have ventured and settled. You have the freedom to create your own character with a unique background, but the main story will take you through a series of adventures as you uncover more information about mysterious artifacts which create gravitational anomalies. Along the way, you can build and customize your own space ship, establish your own outpost, befriend and romance new companions, and more. As a Bethesda game, you can also expect to see a lot of creative mods which have the potential to change your experience of the base game, or take it in an entirely new direction.
