How to Use The Boostpack in Starfield

By
Shane Williams

Whilst you’re exploring the large variety of planets that Starfield has to offer, you may come across backpacks which have a boostpack attached and this will make reaching certain areas easier. However, some players may be confused as to why they can’t make use of this mechanic so this page will navigate you through the necessary steps to unlocking the correct trait along with tips on how to use it.

You’ll have to find a pack that has the boostpack mod attached.

What Skill Do You Need to Use Jetpacks in Starfield?

Before you can even start using a boostpack you’ll need to have the trait "Boost Pack Training" iconBoost Pack Training. You can unlock this by heading over to the tech section of the skill tree and using up one of your precious skill points or you can choose a background at the start of the game that comes with it already unlocked, such as Bounty Hunter and Soldier. Once you’ve acquired the necessary skill and have equipped a boostpack, you can start using it by pressing the jump button two times.

However, until you start completing the challenges and leveling up the Boost Pack Training Skill you won’t get very far as the fuel will deplete quickly and will take a couple seconds to recharge. Thankfully, you don’t need to worry about searching for fuel sources, as it’ll gradually regenerate by itself. If you intend on making a lot of use of the boostpack in combat or for general exploration, then leveling this up early on is a must. Below, you’ll find out what each tier of this skill offers you:

Level Stat
1 You can now utilize boost packs.
2 Using a boost pack expends less fuel.
3 Boost pack fuel regenerates more quickly
4 Doubles previous bonuses

Where to Find a Boostpack in Starfield?

You’ll now need to get your hands on a backpack that has the basic boost pack mod attached and these can be found in a variety of places. The easiest one you can get your hands on is via a reward for completing "One Small Step" iconOne Small Step Main Quest which is the first MQ you’ll experience in Starfield. Alternatively, you can find packs with jetpacks attached on the enemies corpse and you’ll start coming across these on the "Kreet Research Lab" iconKreet Research Lab which tables are placed on the "Vectera" iconVectera Moon.

Starfield is an action role-playing game from Bethesda Game Studios set in a futuristic interpretation of space exploration and colonization. Earth has long been abandoned, but there are plenty of other planets in different star systems where humans have ventured and settled. You have the freedom to create your own character with a unique background, but the main story will take you through a series of adventures as you uncover more information about mysterious artifacts which create gravitational anomalies. Along the way, you can build and customize your own space ship, establish your own outpost, befriend and romance new companions, and more. As a Bethesda game, you can also expect to see a lot of creative mods which have the potential to change your experience of the base game, or take it in an entirely new direction.
