Best Nickel Farming Locations in Starfield¶
Nickel is a pretty easy inorganic resource to find as it is classed as common, but with hundreds of planets and moons to choose from, finding the right place to set up an outpost can be tricky. That’s why we’ve compiled a list below of some of the best places to find Nickel!

An easily habitable, temperate planet with access to  Water, Nickel,  Aluminum,  Cobalt,  Argon and  Benzene. You’ll also find great flora and fauna here. Plus, you could set up right next to Akila so you can easily travel there whenever you need extra supplies! |
Rasalhague II,  Rasalhague System (Level 40 area) |
As well as Nickel, Rasalhague II has a great variety of materials on offer, such as flora and fauna, Water,  Chlorine,  Copper,  Iron and the 3★ resource  Caesium. |
Rana III,  Rana System (Level 65 area) |
In addition to Nickel, Rana III also has Water, Aluminum,  Lead, Argon and  Tungsten - all vital to outpost building. It also has a temperate climate, high O2 and flora and fauna to discover too, making it a great place to set up. |
Niira,  Narion System (Level 1) |
This is a bountiful planet but only those with  Planetary Habitation skills will be able to set up an outpost here due to its extreme environment. If you are able to, however, you’ll be rewarded with access to Nickel, Argon, Copper, Water, Chlorine and the 3★ resource Ionic Liquids. |
Scan a planet that has Nickel listed under resources and you’ll be able to then pinpoint where to find the resource (it’s the brown areas!).
If you have the 
Scanning Skill, then you can find other ideal places to farm and set up outposts to get a constant supply of the resource. However, you can also harvest it by hand too using a

Alternatively, if you don’t really fancy setting up a mining outpost, you could just purchase some Nickel instead. You’ll likely find it being sold at any 
Trade Authority Vendor, and the Jemison Mercantile shop in 
New Atlantis and Midtown Minerals shop in Akila are also good spots to purchase for Nickel.

Nickel is a very common material used in outpost building, research, weapon modifications and furniture building. Having a steady supply of the ore can be very useful if you’re interested in crafting the best weapons and having an advanced outpost. Below, we’ll list all uses of Nickel so you can plan ahead!

To research projects at a 
Research Lab, you’re gonna need various materials. Nickel is used predominantly for weapon modification research projects, as outlined below:

Industrial Workbench Uses¶
In addition to being used in its raw form, Nickel can also be used to craft manufactured materials. These manufactured materials will then be very useful for building more “high-tech” and expensive outpost modules and equipment. These are all important components of crafting, with Austenitic Manifolds, for example, vital to crafting extractors for mining materials. Mag Pressure tanks can also be used in building important outpost modules such as the advanced Wind Turbine, Fueled Generator and advanced Scan Booster.
Nickel is used to make more complex manufactured components such as the Isocentered Magnet.

Spacesuit Modification Uses¶
There’s only one use of Nickel in Spacesuit modification, and that’s the Ballistic Shielding (Helmet) for Helmet Slot 1. This mod increases Damage Resistance and requires x1 Nickel and x1 
Cosmetic. You don’t need any extra skills or completed research to unlock this modification!
Add increased damage protection to your helmet with this modification.
