Starfield

Starfield Tapping The Grid Requires Computer Door Puzzle

By
Craig Robinson

Starfield has a quest chain from an NPC called Louisa located in the Well of "New Atlantis" iconNew Atlantis. As part of a quest chain, you will be sent to look for various switches and terminals in "The Well" iconThe Well, with many as simple as go to the box and pressing a button on them. However, the final one in the Tapping The Grid quest in Starfield requires you to bypass a locked door requiring the Computer Skill. If you don’t have that, then you have a puzzle to solve.

Tapping The Grid Requires Computer Puzzle Guide

Using the two terminals on the left, you must light the four lights in Tapping the Grid quest in Starfield.

When you reach the section requiring the Computer to bypass the door, you must do a small puzzle instead. The requirements for the quest are as follows:

  • Activate the leftmost terminal
  • Activate the second from the left terminal

The one on the left activates the outward most lights of the four. Meanwhile, the second one activates the lights in the center. With them both pressed, all four are online, and you can now open the door.

If you do have computing, you can attempt one of those hacks and open the door. Doing so will allow you to bypass the puzzle if you do not need to it and get the objective. Once you have gone to the lockbox, you can now go to the other boxes, then return to Louisa to complete the quest. Louise will now be in her office directly above where you first found her in The Well. To access her office to complete the quest, simply to where she was, walk further down the road, and you’ll find a stairway behind some pipes and vents to grant you access to the building and end the quest.

From then on, you get the Alternating Currents quest, which comes with a choice, and some harder-to-reach fuseboxes again.

Starfield is an action role-playing game from Bethesda Game Studios set in a futuristic interpretation of space exploration and colonization. Earth has long been abandoned, but there are plenty of other planets in different star systems where humans have ventured and settled. You have the freedom to create your own character with a unique background, but the main story will take you through a series of adventures as you uncover more information about mysterious artifacts which create gravitational anomalies. Along the way, you can build and customize your own space ship, establish your own outpost, befriend and romance new companions, and more. As a Bethesda game, you can also expect to see a lot of creative mods which have the potential to change your experience of the base game, or take it in an entirely new direction.
