The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Hey, You Wanna Look at My Stuff?

By
Nathan Garvin

Novigrad is a famed hub of commerce, recently infested with inquisitors terrorizing mages and nonhumans. The two of these elements were bound to interact, and fittingly enough, a scheming halfling has seized the opportunity to sell the contraband of the inquisition’s victims. This page will provide a walkthrough for the quest "Hey, You Wanna Look at my Stuff?" iconHey, You Wanna Look at my Stuff? in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, including how your choices affect the halfling merchant.

Quest Objectives

Starting Hey, You Wanna Look at My Stuff?

Another one of those small little quests you can easily just stumble across or miss entirely, this one is at least listed in your quest log. You can start Hey, You Wanna Look at my Stuff? by finding a halfling merchant in Novigrad. Make sure it’s at least noon, then head northwest of the Golden Sturgeon tavern along the northwestern end of Novigrad. You should find the halfling standing along the corner of a brickwork building, near some stairs.

Talk to the halfling merchant and ask to see his wares, whereupon he’ll be interrupted by a trio of Witch Hunters, who infest the local area. Really not a wise idea to set up shop here. In any event, the halfling scampers off and leaves you alone to deal with the suspicious fanatics, who ask Geralt where his companion got off to. This is the only meaningful choice of the quest, and it occurs before the quest has even begun. Unlike many other quests, it doesn’t determine how the quest proceeds, but rather there even is a quest in the first place! Pick the option “He sells the property of dead mages.” to snitch on the diminutive black market merchant and the Witch Hunters will thank you and leave. Whether they catch their quarry or it’s just too hot for the halfling to do business isn’t clear, but this prevents the quest from ever starting, and you’ll earn a pittance of EXP for being a law-abiding little nark.

(1 of 2) Find a halfling merchant standing around along the northwestern edge of Novigrad.

Instead, if you want to start the quest you’ll need to respond with “Left his soup on the burner.” when questioned by the Witch Hunters. They won’t be happy, but stomping off after issuing some threats is the worst they’re willing to risk.

Find the Halfling Merchant

Assuming you didn’t rat the magical paraphernalia selling halfing out to the Witch Hunters and the quest actually begins, use your Witcher senses to search the ground where the halfling stood to find some “brew” the vulturous merchant left behind. Something that both confirms the halfling’s claims to be true and provides a trail the keen-nosed Witcher can follow. Keep your Witcher senses active and track down the halfling using the scent trail. Despite the mortal peril the halfling just found himself in, he couldn’t be bothered to flee very far - just follow the scent trail a short distance north, then west, to find the halfling dwelling in front of an alley just around the corner from where he was accosted.

(1 of 2) Track the scent trail left by the halfing’s wares to find him again,

Track the scent trail left by the halfing’s wares to find him again, (left), and this time he’ll do business with you, now that you’re under less scrutiny. (right)

Talk to him and now that you’re in a marginally more secluded spot you can trade. He sells various runes, books, diagrams, formula and alchemical components. Nothing you can pull out of chests and other containers around the world, but you’ll retain his services as a merchant for the rest of the game. Even better, you’ll complete the quest and earn a small bit of EXP - about twice what you’d have earned if you tattled to the Witch Hunters.
