This is a guide for the Moebius Y boss fight in Chapter 6 of Xenoblade Chronicles 3, taking place in the Upper Aetia region.

Moebius Y is a boss in Chapter 6 of Xenoblade Chronicles 3.

Miyabi and the others are safe following Noah and Mio’s intervention, but Moebius Y isn’t about to let that go unanswered. Moebius Y is a physical powerhouse, and he focuses on using Arts that can cause Topple and other combo related effects. Hopefully you have someone as a Signifier (or Fiona in your party) as the buffs will be invaluable for this battle.

Moebius Y is a massive beast, and many of his Arts reflect that, which you can find out more about below:

  • Impact Quake: Moebius Y slams his fist into a single target, dealing moderate damage and inflicting Topple.
  • Body Trap: Moebius Y will scoop up a single target, crushing them before tossing them away, dealing moderate damage and inflicting Blowdown.
  • Tyrant’s Shout Spark/Glimmer/Shine: Moebius Y charges up, granting him a stance buff that increases his resistances by more each time he upgrades it.
  • Moebius Dominion: Defenders: Moebius Y will release a wave of energy, shackling any Defenders.

The battle against Moebius Y is a tough one, primarily down to the fact that he’s plenty of HP, high resistances and high block rate. This means you’re going to want to move this into your favor as much as possible by equipping Accessories that help you land Break and other Reactions easier.

Moebius Y’s auto-attack is enough of a threat on its own, he attacks surprisingly quick for one so large and they pack a punch, especially once he gets the damage boost from being Enraged. When it comes to Arts that deal damage, he only has two of them, but they both deal plenty of damage.

Impact Quake will hit Tanks for moderate damage (so more for non-Tanks) and also has a high chance to Topple them. Body Trap, on the other hand, is an Art you’ve seen before from other large Moebius bosses but nevertheless is still a high damaging Art. It will immobilize a character while he’s grabbed them and then deal large damage once he tosses them away. Once Enraged, this can often kill anyone who’s not a Tank.

Body Trap disables a character and deals heavy damage (left), the Tyrant Shout buffs will increase his resistance. (right)

The Tyrant Shout Arts deserve special mention, they all do the same thing, but he cycles through them (Tyrant Shout > Spark > Glimmer > Shine) with each one further increasing his already high resistances and overall tankiness. For this reason alone, you really want to attempt to use Burst once he’s Enraged to try and knock him out of it, if you have to use a Chain Attack to guarantee that those Reactions land, so be it.

Moebius Y can be a real wall, especially when playing on the higher difficulties as his overall tankiness makes this a long, grueling battle and he gets more dangerous the longer the battle goes on. Once he’s Enraged and he’s buffed himself with the later versions of Tyrant Shouts, even his auto-attacks become a problem. Having a Signifier (or Fiona) in your party for this battle will go some way into making life a lot easier.

Persist through the struggle and eventually, you’ll down Moebius Y, gaining not only Miyabi as a new Hero but also releasing the Rank cap on Mio’s Zephyr Class.
