Positionals in Battle

By
Seren Morgan-Roberts

This page offers a guide on how to position yourself effectively during combat in Xenoblade Chronicles 3.

Why is Positioning So Important?

Below, you’ll find the main examples of why positioning is to important to your success in battle.

Positional Arts

Some Arts are more powerful when attacked from either the front, side or back. This means that you’ll want to move around during the battle according to what arts you have up! You can tell if you’re to the side, front or back of the enemy by the large orange arrow above your arts. If the arrow is facing downwards the enemy is facing away from you and you can perform a back attack!

Areas of Effect Arts

In addition to paying attention to your own arts, you’ll also want to keep an eye out for your group’s! Some classes, such as healers, will place down areas of effect (AOEs) that will heal or buff other players. You’ll want to make sure to make the most of these AOEs by standing in them whenever possible.

And finally, some arts can do AOE damage, meaning you can hit multiple enemies with a single attack. To make the most of these arts, you’ll want to make sure to place yourself in front of or central to more than one enemy!
