This is a guide for Chapter 5 of Xenoblade Chronicles 3, exploring the City located within Swordmarch.
Where to go in the City¶
You’ll enter the city via the north-east, at the aptly-named City Entrance. Continue following Shania south-west along the passageway. When you reach one of the corners, there’ll be a short cutscene. After that, proceed south and another cutscene will trigger, showcasing the City in all its glory.
From here, keep following Shania south, then west towards Centrilo Parade, where another cutscene will play upon approaching the t-junction there. If you want, you can head there ahead of Shania. Or you could go around and explore the City before triggering the cutscene.
Next, follow Shania some more (or make your own way) to the Mxene Tech Quarter, which is located due west. Another cutscene will occur. When you’re back in control, continue north, then east towards Praetorian Hill for some more theatrics.
Moving on, carry on east towards the closed door for, you guessed it, another cutscene. From here, you’ll need to trek to the south-east corner of the City, where the Medical Facility is. Behold one of the most wholesome cutscenes in the game. Afterwards, you’ll be dropped next to the Remembrance Stones. Make your way south-west to the Memorial Hall next for a quick history lesson.
Finally, to wrap up the day, head west to the Lost Numbers Dormitory. When you’re ready, speak to the Residential Guard standing outside to rest. Or you could wander around the City some more; there’s a bunch of new Info Fragments to discover. That said, those fragments will still be around tomorrow, so maybe go and take a rest.
The Next Day¶
After resting, your next task is to visit Monica at the War Room. It’s located along the north side of the City, near Praetorian Hill. From the Dormitory, you can head straight north, cutting through the Mxene Tech Quarter, then travel east at the corner. Or you could fast-travel to Mitia Lookout and drop down to the south.
To reach the war room itself, you must use the elevator. Inside, Monica will brief you on your next mission as Ouroboros. Afterwards, you’ll receive the Castle Access Standard Quest.
