This is a guide for the Consul X and Moebius L boss fight found in Eunie’s Ascension Quest, Side Story - Eunie in Xenoblade Chronicles 3, taking place in the Pentelas Region.

Consul X and Moebius L is a boss battle in the Side Story - Eunie Ascension Quest.

How to Beat Consul X and Moebius L

Name Level Type
Consul X 47 Moebius_Ouroboros.png
Moebius L 47 Moebius_Ouroboros.png

This is a tough battle indeed, both Consul X and Moebius L can deal plenty of damage and fighting them both at the same time can cause matters to get a little hectic. The tried-and-true method of the 2:2:2 Class split is favorable here again and you’ll want to bring Valdi along as your Hero, making sure you have Cure Bullet set to deal with the many debuffs you’ll suffer during this battle.

You’ll also want to pick a target and focus on them until they’re down, with Consul X being the main priority due to her being the deadliest of the two.

Consul X has many Arts that deals heavy damage, and you can learn more about them below:

Consul X Arts

  • Calamitous Slice: Consul X will spin her scythe in front of her, dealing multiple strikes to a single target dealing major damage if they all connect.
  • Delightful Chain: Consul X will swing her scythe around her, dealing moderate damage in an AoE around her and inflicting Knockback.
  • Siren of Desire: Consul X will shoot beams of light from her scythe, inflicting the Sleep debuff on targets in front of her.
  • Headhunt: Once Enraged, Consul X will rise into the air and come swinging down, dealing major damage and inflicting the Bleed debuff.

Moebius L, on the other hand, has Arts that focus on inflicting debuffs and you can learn more about them below:

Moebius L Arts

  • Icicle Moon: Moebius L will perform two somersaults on a single target, dealing moderate damage and inflicting Launch.
  • Freezing Rush: Moebius L will perform a multi-hit combo on a single target dealing moderate damage and inflicting the Freeze debuff.
  • Gift of Frost: Moebius L will shoot a Freeze bullet from his hand, dealing moderate damage and inflicting the Freeze debuff.
  • Sweeping Slash: Moebius L will leap into the air and strike from the above multiple times, dealing moderate damage on targets in front of him. When Enraged, he will release more shockwaves.

Strategy

There’s no two ways about it, unless you’re overlevelled, this is a tough boss battle. You’re going to be sustaining a lot of damage throughout while also needing to deal with debuffs constantly. For this reason, you should use your Chain Attack for survival, rather than damage, triggering it in situations where the entire party is low on HP, and you need a breather to recover them. Likewise, Eunie and Taion’s Liberty Wing from their Interlink is helpful.

Your first target should definitely be Consul X, she does far more damage and has an AoE Art that will cause plenty of harm while you’re attempting to take down Moebius L. All of her Arts hit hard, and she will often use them in close proximity to one another.

Calamitous Slice has the ability to really shred your HP, even to your Tanks, should it connect the majority of the hits so Armor Veil and Defense Up are incredibly useful here. Delightful Chain will deal AoE damage around her and cause Knockback, causing your party to often be in low HP due to the extra damage you’ll be taking from Moebius L at the same time.

She also has two Arts that can inflict debuffs, Siren of Desire won’t deal damage, but it will inflict Sleep on multiple characters so unless you have someone to remove it with an Art like Cure Bullet, switch control to them and press the onscreen commands to release them as soon as possible. Headhunt will only be used once you have her in Enrage but will deal major damage to that character while also inflicting Bleed. Unless your Healers are quick, it’s not uncommon to see that character die shortly after being hit by this Art.

(1 of 3) Calamitous Slice is deadly even to Tanks

Look for when Consul X doesn’t have the Ether Anchor buff (this prevents combos for a set time) and make use of any combos you can to keep her inactive, then look to use a Chain Attack with an Ouroboros finisher once she’s a little under half HP. At this stage of the game, you should be able to achieve well over 600,000 HP which may be enough to take her down.

That’s only half the fight though, as although it’s a little easier, Moebius L can still cause plenty of problems by himself. You may have already grasped by looking at his Arts list that they all seem to be themed around inflicting the Freeze debuff, this is another one like Blaze and Bleed that will deal damage over time. This is the main reason why you want a Healer(s) who have the ability to remove debuffs for this battle as you’ll be dealing with this even when fighting Consul X.

Moebius L doesn’t have any Arts on the level of Consul X’s Calamitous Slice or Headhunt, but Icicle Moon can cause some problems if it fully connects as it deals moderate damage and inflicts Launch, allowing the Freeze to kill the character while they’re stuck in the air. Sweeping Slash may seem rather harmless when he first uses it, but once you Enrage him, he’ll charge it which will allow him to shoot out more shockwaves to deal much heavier damage.

The main difference, however, with Moebius L is that he attacks much faster than Consul X and seems to chain his Arts together more. This means you’ll need to keep up with your damage mitigation (with tools such as Armor Veil and Defense Up) as often or not, your Healers will be preoccupied with removing the constant debuffs. Don’t be afraid to Interlink Eunie and Taion should you need some stronger group heals.

So long as you take Consul X down first, Moebius L shouldn’t be able to defeat you as he’s more than manageable on his own. The main difficulty with this battle is dealing with the two of them together so making sure your Tanks have plenty of methods for increasing their Aggro is vital.
