Xenoblade Chronicles 3

The Three Fiends

By
Jarrod Garripoli

This is a guide for The Three Fiends in Xenoblade Chronicles 3.

How to Start The Three Fiends Standard Quest

(1 of 2) Both of the Infos you need are pretty easy to find

Both of the Infos you need are pretty easy to find (left), as the Ascension Grounds area is fairly small (right)

Before doing anything, you will need to have completing the Going Home quest. Once you’ve done that, go to the Ascension Grounds area of Agnus Castle and seek out two pieces of Info. The area isn’t that big and both pieces of Info are pretty easy to find. This will net you the Castle Prisoners Info, so discuss it to start the quest.

How to Complete The Three Fiends Standard Quest (Battle Option)

One of the ways you will be able to complete this quest is simply by fighting the three prisoners in a battle. After obtaining the quest, head to the breakroom for a scene with Soona, who is in charge of the prisoners. This leads to a quick conversation with Tohma, who presents the choice to fight with them. You will have the option to speak to each of the three prisoners, starting their subquest, but to get started on the battle itself, speak to Soona down the hall and pick the option to fight the prisoners.

All three prisoners are level 57 and follow the standard three-role combo of tank, attacker and healer. The split class setup of two attackers, two defenders and two healers always works well, with a Hero to provide extra healing. Naturally, you want to down the healer first, who would be Jhodor. Once he is down, you can go after Xera, who is the one with the guns and an attacker. So, since she will likely be providing a lot of the damage for the group, you can defeat her to cut down on that damage taken. That will leave Tohma, the defender, for last, who shouldn’t really be giving you too much trouble.

(1 of 2) Jhodor can heal, so he should go down first

Jhodor can heal, so he should go down first (left), Go after the damage dealer second to protect your own party (right)

After defeating them, there will be a scene where everyone discusses what to do with the prisoners now, leading to the end of the quest. You will only get the rewards for the main quest itself, with nothing from the subquests.

How to Complete the Three Fiends Standard Quest (Non-Battle Option)

There is a second way to finish this quest, which doesn’t involve knocking the prisoners upside their heads. One of the ways you will be able to complete this quest is simply by fighting the three prisoners in a battle. After obtaining the quest, head to the breakroom for a scene with Soona, who is in charge of the prisoners. This leads to a quick conversation with Tohma, who presents the choice to fight with them. You will have the option to speak to each of the three prisoners, starting their subquest, which is what you want to do here. Each subquest will involve you speaking to a few NPCs in the Agnus Castle area, and doesn’t involve any fighting at all.

Three Fiends: Jhodor

You will need four pieces of Info in order to get the full scoop on Jhodor, with the first one coming upon logging this subquest. The second piece of Info is from the Internal Affairs Officer in the breakroom, behind the desk. Next, head to the Mulus Depot landmark, if you have it. If not, then speak with the Agnus Soldier on the western side of the Ascension Grounds to go there. Slightly northeast of the landmark will be a NPC named Grover, who will give you the third piece of Info. Head to the Mulus Depot landmark and go south from it, to the elevator. Take this elevator down to the docks to find the last bit of Info. Darnie will be the one who gives this Info.

Once you have all of the Info, go to any rest spot/camp to discuss it. Speak to Jhodor one last time, then speak to Soona again to tell the whole story about Jhodor. This will make Soona set them free, finishing the subquest.

Three Fiends: Xera

You will need four pieces of Info in order to get the full scoop on Xera, with the first one coming upon logging this subquest. All of the other Info is located in the lower section of the Agnus Castle. If you haven’t been there before, go on the western side of the Ascension Grounds and look for the Agnus Soldier, who will take you there (this will be the Mulus Depot landmark). North of the landmark just mentioned will be a Logistics Guy, who will give you the second piece of Info. Kaye will have the third piece of Info and they are just southeast of the Prison Camp, Freight Gate landmark. Head to the Mulus Depot landmark and go south from it, to the elevator. Take this elevator down to the docks to find the last bit of Info. Dana will be the final person to give you Info on Xera.

(1 of 4) Speak with the prisoner to get their subquest

Once you have all of the Info, go to any rest spot/camp to discuss it. Speak to Xera one last time, then speak to Soona again to tell the whole story about Xera. This will make Soona set them free, finishing the subquest.

Three Fiends: Tohma

You will need three pieces of Info in order to get the full scoop on Tohma, with the first one coming upon logging this subquest. The second piece of Info is from the Internal Affairs Officers on the western side of the Ascension Grounds. Head to the Mulus Depot landmark and go south from it, to the elevator. Take this elevator down to the docks to find the last bit of Info. Look for the Inspection Analyst in the control room for the floodgate for the last piece of Info.

Once you have all of the Info, go to any rest spot/camp to discuss it. Speak to Tohma one last time, then speak to Soona again to tell the whole story about Tohma. This will make Soona set them free, finishing the subquest.

If you completed all three of the subquests above, then the rewards for completing the overall quest will be a little different than if you fought the prisoners.
