Xenoblade Chronicles 3

How to Avoid Damage from Poison Swamps

By
Vincent Lau

This page explains how to avoid damage from poison swamps in Xenoblade Chronicles 3.

In the later areas of the game, you may find purple, poisonous swamps or similar hazards that inflict damage to your party when you touch them. Sometimes, you can simply run to the other side if they’re small. However, larger pools are impossible to traverse normally.

Instead, you’ll need the Hazard Neutralization skill obtained during Segiri’s Hero Quest.

How to begin Segiri’s Hero Quest

(1 of 2) Segiri’s Hero Quest is connected to a long chain of quests.

You won’t be able to start Segiri’s Hero Quest until Chapter 6 rolls in. Specifically after you’ve liberated Colony Omega and can proceed to the Cloudkeep at the Aetia Region, Upper.

In addition, you must complete 3 other quests first.

  • Imminent Illusion, which was a mandatory quest in Chapter 4, during your journey through High Maktha Wildwood.
  • Severed Connection, a quest at Colony 4 from Chapter 4, triggered by completing two other Colony 4 quests: “Charity and Hypocrisy” and “Tactical Eradication”.
  • Writer’s Block, a quest at the City from Chapter 5. This requires the previous quest to be complete.

After completing the 3 quests, a new quest “The Illusion Returns” will be available near Nocclia Mire, towards the south of Aetia Region, Upper. Complete this and you’ll receive Segiri’s Hero Quest, Inhumanity.

During Segiri’s Hero Quest, take the mysterious girl to the Medical Facility at the City, near the south-east corner. You’ll then be asked to visit her at the Caelum Residential Quarter, west from the Medical Facility. After the initial visit, you’ll receive an Info Fragment that you can discuss at a rest area.

After discussing the “No. 7” topic, return to Colony Lambda and grab ingredients from the Commissary. Next, head to the Michiba Canteen in the City, near the center. Borrow the kitchen behind the canteen. Now go back and visit the mysterious girl at the same location as before.

You’ll receive a message from Colony 0, where the girl–Segiri–belongs to. Agree to accompany her back to Colony 0. Next, return to the area near Nocclia Mire, where you fought the Mysterious Raiders. After Riku repairs the Ferron Suit, Segiri will temporarily join your party while you head to your next destination.

At this point, you’ll receive the Hazard Neutralization traversal skill.

How to use Hazard Neutralization

(1 of 2) Segiri will give her Hazard Neutralization skill to the party.

You don’t need to do anything special at all. This traversal skill will kick in the moment your feet touches poison swamp or a similar hazard, preventing any damage done to your party. Now you can head deeper into more dangerous territory!
