This is a guide for the “Indomitable” standard quest in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. It’ll navigate you through the necessary steps to defeating Tenacious Clad.

How to Start the Indomitable Standard Quest¶

Progress through the game until you reach Chapter 4 and work your way through the Great Cotte Falls, then continue onwards until you reach High Maktha Wildwood. Here you’ll ambushed by a team from Colony Tau which will trigger the Hero Quest, Natural Selection which will unlock the Rope Sliding ability. Continue working your way through High Maktha Wildwood until you reach Syra Hovering Reefs. Here you’ll need to complete the Hero Quest, The Wrath of Ashera to gain access to Colony 11.

Walk around Colony 11 and listen into conversations by pressing until you are given the “Clad’s Unit” Info Fragment, then discuss it at the Colony 11 Canteen to unlock this quest!

Defeat The Equites¶

Once you’ve unlocked the quest, head down onto the Colony 11, Training Pit and approach the Levnises who are attacking the lone soldier. Here you’ll need to take them down which shouldn’t be too hard if you’re around level 48+. Simply press followed by to have the full time focus target on one of the Levnises. Make use of buffs such as Attack and successfully time your Artes to trigger a cancel attack which will deal more damage

As these Levnises won’t stay alive for a while, avoid waiting for a level 3 interlink and just use the chain if and when it becomes available, as it’ll allow you to take them down a little quicker. After you’ve defeated both Levnises, the owner Knoquehardt isn’t impressed, as its was apparently just training, so in order to repay your debt of destroying their Levnises you’ll need to face Clad.

How To Defeat The Tenacious Clad¶

The Tenacious Clad is a step in difficulty to your average soldier, but you should expect that from somebody who is a leader of their own squad. This means he has several attacks that you should be aware of. Riot Bash: This will cause the Tenacious Clad to repeatedly stab the targeted player which will most likely be a Defender, so you may want to switch over to your Healer and top up their health.

Next up, we have Protective Shift which causes the Tenacious Clad to trigger some kind of defense which will deal a lot less damage to him during that time, so you may want to make use of Attack Up buffs to help combat it. Throughout the fight Clad can perform Skyflip which hits you for a large chunk of damage and has a chance to launch you into the sky, so switch to your Healer and top up the targeted character’s health.

Finally, we have Earthmover which is one of the more deadly attacks, as it hits everyone around him and can deplete most of the team’s HP. If this occurs, switch into Eunie and Taions Ourboros and perform the AoE Heal. After you’ve defeated the Tenacious Clad a scene will play out and the quest will come to a close.
