Cyno like most characters in Genshin Impact is given a story quest that both allows you to try the character out and get to know him a bit better. For the most part Cyno has a relativly easy story quest to complete. Below we go over the quest, how to unlock it, and what it’s about.

How to Unlock¶

To unlock Cyno’s story quest you must have completed Chapter 3 Act 4 - King Deshret and the Three Magi, be Adventure Rank 40, and use one story key. To get the story key, you need to complete eight daily commisions and redeem them in your quest menu.

Description¶

The suspicious case of smuggling Canned Knowledge occupies the minds of all Matra. Little do they know of a lone wolf that silently investigates the truth behind it.
The chains of mutual benefit are getting tighter and tighter, trapping everyone involved in a whirlpool that no one can escape.
Planting evidence, luring others with promises of gain, threatening, begging, exhorting… They will stop at nothing. When the old bricks and mortar crumble down, some people resort to silence, some gather their baggage and carry on forward.

Suspicious Smuggling Case¶

You will head to the Sumeru Akadeymia to start the quest. Once you have been told about the strange activity, head to the quest marker to meet up with Cyno. You will agree to work on the smuggling case together and the Traveler will set out to gather infomration. Head to The Palace of Alcazarzara and speak with Dori.

She will give you the information you need to help find the smugglers, simply head to Caravan Ribat to speak with Cyno. This will prompt you to head into the desert where you will start to be attacked by enemies. Defeat them to begin the second part of the quest.

Chain of Interests¶

Keep proceeding towards the desert quest markers and defeating the enemies that ambush you along the way. Soon you will come upon a small shop set-up in the desert. Cyno will ask you to walk away after investigating the camp. You will want to head to the quest marker above Aaru Village and then back to Cyno to see what he has learned. You will once again go back to Aaru Village, where the truth behind the smuggling operation will begin to come to light.

All Returns to Silence¶

You will now revist the Akadeymia and speak with Nabil. Afterward, you will head inside repository. Investigate the glowing spots to learn about Taj. You will now speak to a couple of NPCs before going to Taj’s house to look around. Afterward, you need to head back to Aaru Village to speak with Cyno.

Your next point of entrance will be the Court of Desolation, which is tucked underneath a desert cliff. Once inside the domain, make your way through. The only puzzles just require you to press a switch that changes the orientation of the room. You can use a powered up Cyno to quickily slice through enemies. You will confront Taj here, and need to face him in battle.

Once the battle is decided and you exit the ruins, wait four days and then head to Caravan Ribat to talk with Cyno and end his story quest.
