Unlock Criteria¶

Description¶

The Chalk Prince and the Dragon is a Limited Timed Event and it first appeared on the 23rd December 2020 with it running through until the 5th January 2021. It consists of four phases which will unlock on different dates. The event is essentially a story quest for Albedo.

Dragonspine Introduction¶

The first thing you’ll notice about Dragonspine is the new gameplay mechanic Subzero Climate. What will happen is, whilst traversing the area you will start to get cold, this is called the Sheer Cold status and this is indicated by a blue meter above your Health bar.

The status will accumulate at approximately 1% a second, certain actions like swimming in the water or being in a Snowstorm will increase the rate even further, at around 3/4 of the meter, it will begin to flash, meaning in 30 seconds the Sheer Cold status will hit its peak dealing 2% of your Health a second.

To counter this status, you’ll need to find a heat source. Heat sources come in different varieties, Bonfires, cookpots, Torches, Ruin Braziers which can be activated and Warming Seelies, some food recipes such as Goulash will slow the rate that it accumulates. Teleport Waypoints and Statues of The Seven will also reset your Sheer Cold status.

The First Experiment: Elements¶

1. Head to the test state
2. Defeat the slimes to complete the experiment
3. Follow the road and search for a Starsilver Catalyst
4. Head for Albedo’s campsite
5. Take the potion from the desk
6. Talk to Albedo and hear his conclusions

Head to the test state¶

Follow the path to the test site and after a cut scene, you’ll have your first experiment to complete.

Defeat the slimes to complete the experiment¶

You will have to battle three Cryo Slimes and two Large Cryo Slimes, these are weak to Pyro and Electro, so fire away with those elements to make quick work of these, Klee and Diluc are especially useful here due to their great AoE capabilities. After the battle you’ll get another cut scene.

Follow the road and search for a Starsilver Catalyst¶

After the cut scene you’ll need to obtain three Starsilver Catalysts which can be obtained from the regular Starsilver deposits, the first one can be found a little to the south, guarded by one Cryo Samachurl, one Cryo Hilichurl Guard and two Cryo Hilichurl Grenadiers, take them out with Pyro and collect the three Catalysts from the deposits nearby.

You can activate this Brazier to reduce the Sheer Cold status, the Silverstar deposit is sitting behind it.

Head for Albedo’s campsite¶

Once the Catalysts have been obtained, head southwest a little, unlocking the Teleport on the way and glide over the broken bridge where you will see his camp. Walk into it to trigger a cut scene.

Take the potion from the desk and drink it¶

After the cut scene head to the desk that Albedo is standing at and interact with the potion, this will go in to your inventory where you will have to use it like any normal consumable, make sure you’re not at low health as the potion will do minor damage to you.

Talk to Albedo and hear his conclusions¶

Speak with Albedo and you will get a cut scene, after it has ended, the quest will finish.
