What is Battle of an Epoch?¶

This is the fourth challenge of the Contending Tides Event, you will compete in the Dadaupa Gorge’s Meaty Arena and face off against Ruin Guards. This guide will help you pick a strong enough party to complete all challenges on the hardest difficulties, of which there are three available, Normal, Hard and Extreme.

Arena Effect¶

Mighty ancient warriors shall do battle with the rising star known as the Traveler! Normal and Charged Attacks that hit Frozen opponents will release powerful shockwaves! Is that what they call a clash of the titans?

When Normal and Charged Attacks hit a Frozen opponent, there is a 50% chance of releasing a shockwave that deals AoE DMG. Can occur once every second.

Completion Criteria¶

Normal¶

• Defeat 2 opponents in 300 seconds.
• Do not leave the area during the challenge.
• No more than 2 character deaths during the challenge.

Hard¶

• Defeat 3 opponents in 240 seconds.
• Do not leave the area during the challenge.
• No more than 1 character death during the challenge.

Extreme¶

• Defeat 5 opponents in 135 seconds.
• Do not leave the area during the challenge.
• No character deaths during the challenge.

Strategy¶

Premium Team¶

This challenge is all about freezing the enemies and getting 50% bonus damage when attacking them when they are Frozen. Ganyu is key for this because not only is she Cryo, but she can also hit the Ruin Guards weakpoint with her bow.

Start the battle as Zhongli and use his Elemental Skill to give yourself a shield, this will negate a large portion of damage towards you.

Change over to Mona and use her Elemental Skill so it can taunt the enemy towards it and also pulsate Hydro damage. Switch to Ganyu and use her Elemental Skill which can also taunt the enemy towards it, and you should inflict Frozen. Charge some shots up with her and attack the enemy for major damage. Keep applying Hydro with Mona or Tartaglia and then use Ganyu to freeze, repeat this and they should go down in no time.

Free to Play Team¶

This challenge is all about freezing the enemies and getting 50% bonus damage when attacking them when they are Frozen. You’re mainly using Fischl to attack the enemies weakpoint (eye) and she could be swapped for Diona if you prefer a bit more support.

Start the battle as Noelle and use her Elemental Skill to give yourself a shield, this will negate a large portion of damage towards you.

Switch over to Xingqui and use his Elemental Skill to coat the enemy with Hydro, and then switch over to Kaeya to trigger the Frozen effect. Switch between the two to keep this up gaining a bonus 50% damage when the enemy is attacked in this state. Use Fischl to attack the enemies weakpoint (eye) to stun it for a few seconds giving you uninterrupted attacks.

The Extreme difficulty requires you to defeat at least four Blazing Axe Mitachurls.
