The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Rods

By
Seren Morgan-Roberts

What is an Elemental Rod?

Elemental Rods are wielded by Wizzrobe enemies. They act like staffs and produce damaging spells of either fire, lightning or ice damage. They can either create blasts or areas of damage depending on if you charge up an attack. They are obtained from defeating Wizzrobes but can also be occasionally found in treasure chests. You shouldn’t use these weapons as a melee weapon as they are pretty weak. They will break over time from magic use too. The weapons will need to recharge for a few seconds after a couple of uses too, so you’ll need to bear that in mind when using it.

Ice Rod

The Ice Rod is wielded by Ice Wizzrobes, most commonly found in snowy regions, such as the Gerudo Highlands. You can also find a few of them in the Akkala region too. It creates blasts of ice that freeze enemies upon impact. Ice weapons can also be used to freeze certain foods so that they offer heat resistance when eaten.

In fact, around Ridgeland Tower, you’ll find three Wizzrobes surrounding the area waiting to stun you with their lightning damage whilst you try to navigate the water. When you use the weapon on an enemy or get stunned by lightning damage yourself, the lightning damage will trigger a stun and cause the target to drop any metal weapons they have equipped.

Thunder Rod
