Rinu Honika Shrine

By
Seren Morgan-Roberts

A guide on how to unlock and complete Rinu Honika Shrine, which is the third trial in Ex Champion Daruk’s Song DLC quest.

(1 of 2) This shrine is found near Darb Pond

This shrine is found near Darb Pond (left), and is titled ‘Block the Blaze’. (right)

How to “survive lava’s fiery fate”

You’ll want to first head over to Darb Pond, west of Gorko Lake and Kayra Mah Shrine. As you approach you’ll spot some Gorons overlooking the lake. They’ll tell you that in order to complete the trial you need to stand in the blue ring in the lava lake!

(1 of 2) Head over to Darb Pond

Head over to Darb Pond (left), and speak to the Gorons about the ring in the lake. (right)

To do this, you’ll need to head over to the left and find a metal block that you can place in the lava using magnesis. To reach the ring, you’ll need to stand on the rocks just off the bank of the lake and then place the cube beneath the ring. Then, either use Revali’s Gale or head up the hill and paraglide down into the ring and stand on the cube. Bear in mind that the block will be burning hot so you want to get off it as soon as possible after completing the trial.

Once you’ve completed trial, Rinu Honika Shrine will appear.

Fly down into the ring and land on the metal cube!

How to Complete Rinu Honika: Block the Blaze

Up ahead you’ll see some flames blocking the path, but luckily for you, they’re at the right height that you can crouch underneath and walk under them that way.

Crouch to pass the first set of flames.

Next, you’ll spot a breakable stone block on the left. If you throw a bomb at it it’ll cause the pillar to drop into the lava and the flames will go with it!

Then after you’ve passed that column, you’ll come to another flame blocking your path. To the right, you’ll find a metal cube under the column. Pull it out using magnesis to make this column also collapse, taking the fire along with it. You can then use this cube to block the flames up ahead. Just move it along as you walk to avoid being burned.

(1 of 3) Explode the stone block with a bomb to get rid of the flames.

As you move to the next area, make sure to bring the metal cube with you, and then once you’ve crossed over the metal cube in the lava, use magnesis to pull that up too. You can then use these two cubes to create a fire-free pathway to the final section. To do this you’ll want to place one cube slightly to the left and then balance the second cube on it, but make it so that it hangs off. This will create a small entry way through the flames.

Use the blocks to create a path through the fire.

Once through the flames, use the cubes to make a bridge through the lava to the right of the path. Then you can use the ladder to reach a treasure chest containing a Stone Smasher.

After grabbing the treasure, head back onto the main pathway and follow it up until you reach a motion control apparatus on the left. Use it to rotate the bridge up ahead so you can reach the end of the shrine and claim the final Rudania’s Emblem!

Use motion controls to rotate the bridge so you can pass over it.
