Underground Floor 7

(1 of 2) Swap out all your wooden equipment when you enter.

Difficulty Monsters
★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ Fire Chuchu x1, Igneo Pebblit x2, Rock Octorok x1

The second quarter of the Final Trials takes place in a volcanic environment. Due to the heat, you need to be wearing the Flamebreaker Boots from the previous floor or you’ll burn up. Also, in a reversal of fortunes, wooden equipment should be avoided since they’ll catch fire.

This initial floor begins on a sizable rocky island in a sea of lava. Towards the center, there’s an air vent you can glide on. Meanwhile, near the corner on the left is a small island with a rusted weapon.

Strategy

First, shoot the Fire Chuchu in front with an arrow or blow it up with a remote bomb. Next, the order you do things can be slightly different. Ahead, there are two Igneo Pebblits that you can defeat by throwing/rolling bombs. You can either deal with them now or come back and finish them later (they’re slow and really easy).

(1 of 2) Jump towards the air vent and use it to glide upwards.

Jump towards the air vent and use it to glide upwards. (left), If you’re interested, there’s a Rusted Claymore on the left. (right)

We suggest ignoring the Pebblits for now and leaping into the air vent. If you’re planning to clean your rusted equipment (gathered from previous floors), glide left and grab the Rusted Claymore from the smaller island. Then return to the air vent and glide towards the Rock Octorok at the far end of the initial island.

Land near the Octorok and it’ll hide in the ground in fear. Now drop all your rusted weapons/shields in front of the Octorok. Afterwards, step back so you’re near where the Igneo Pebblits are/were (kill them now if you didn’t do so earlier). The Octorok will re-emerge and begin inhaling for an attack, but it’ll end up sucking a rusted item instead.

(1 of 3) Place the equipment you want to clean in front of the Octorok.

When this happens, there will be “cleaning” sparkles around the Octorok and it’ll spit out the item without the rust. Afterwards, you can pick up the cleaned up item from the ground or try to catch it mid-air. Keep in mind that the Octorok will spit the item in your direction, but sometimes the item may fall into the lava

Honestly, it’s probably not worth the time and effort to collect the rusted items from earlier floors and then clean them here. From our experience, none of the cleaned up items were anything special–and you get plenty of weapons and shields to use. That said, if you find yourself running low in Master Mode, it could be worth pursuing.

After you’ve borrowed the Octorok’s services, kill it by shooting an arrow or by rolling a bomb towards it. You can be extra mean and let the Octorok swallow the bomb, before detonating it. Otherwise, if you don’t care about the rusted weapons, when you’re gliding from the air vent, you can pull out your bow in mid-air and shoot the Octorok.
