A guide on how to beat the Fireblight Ganon boss in the Illusory Realm, which is the boss fight for the Ex Champion Mipha’s Song DLC Quest.
How to Unlock the Illusory Realm Fireblight Ganon¶
Before you can access this boss fight, you’ll need to collect all three Rudania’s Emblems from the three shrines in the Eldin region. Head over to our guides below if you need to find out how to unlock and complete them.
Once you’ve collected all the emblems, head over to Divine Beast Vah Rudania. The whole aim of this boss fight is to fight Fireblight Ganon in an illusory realm where you have different weapons, armor and items to what you usually wear. You’ll be given the following items to fight the boss with:
- Flame Breaker Armor Set (level 1)
- Boulder Breaker
- Knight’s Bow
- x5 Ice Arrows
- Seared Steak, toasty mushroom, baked apple
Fear not! Even though they’ve only given you a little bit of food, you will have access to all your Champion abilities - including Mipha’s Grace and Daruk’s Protection. So you shouldn’t struggle too much so long as all your abilities are available.
How to Beat Fireblight Ganon in the Illusory Realm¶
Once you’ve witnessed a brief cutscene and been given your new equipment, you’ll now need to fight the Fireblight Ganon.
Your main weapon of choice here is obviously the Boulder Breaker, since you don’t have many ice arrows. Using the Champion abilities will be super helpful in this fight.
Phase One¶
In the first phase, the Fireblight will try to hit you with his big sword and throw handfulls of fire balls at you. When he throws fire balls at you, you’ll just want to run away from them but after that attack, he should lower and come into melee range. If you can get a charge attack off, then that would be great as it’d trigger Urbosa’s Fury, but even normal attacks do loads of damage.
Phase Two¶
Once he’s at half health, it’ll trigger phase two. The first thing he’ll do is become a weird ball of fire with a gravitional pull. You’ll want to use this to your advantage and chuck a bomb in his direction, then detonate it when it’s been sucked in.
This will cause the Fireblight to drop to the ground and become incapacitated for a few moments. Use this precious time to do some damage with your melee weapon before he gets back up again.
When he does get back up, he’ll come into melee range again and just try your best to beat him down as much as possible with your Boulder Breaker to get him to around 25% health. He’ll do some weird stuff with flames around you but just keep on smacking him.
If you don’t defeat him before he teleports away, he might try to hit you with his laser. Here, you can either hide behind a pillar or try to shoot him in the eye with one of your few arrows to interrupt it. Either way, whenever he’s low to the ground you just need to go ham with the boulder breaker, and try to get in an Urbosa’s Fury too to finish him off.
Daruk’s Protection +¶
At the end of this fight, you’ll be rewarded with a brief cut scene and a new upgrade that means your Daruk’s Protection recharges faster.
