Welcome to the rest floor of the Beginning Trials! There are no enemies here, just a cooking pot and various useful items. Even though it’s a non-dangerous floor, there’s still a lot of work to do, to prepare yourself for future floors.

Strategy

Before anything, slowly approach the Fairy hovering to the left of the exit and grab it. With the Fairy in your inventory, you’ll be automatically revived from death once. If you scare the Fairy, it will fly away and you’ll lose your one and only safety net for the rest of the trial.

Next, raid the three treasure chests for an Eightfold Blade, Serpentine Spear and Shield of the Mind’s Eye. Then blow up the nearby crates and collect the food/arrows within. After that, go around and grab whatever’s not pinned to the ground.

(1 of 2) Be sure to grab the Armored Carp from the pond.

Be sure to grab the Armored Carp from the pond. (left), Also, blow up the trees and hope for a Korok Leaf drop. (right)

Prioritize the 2 Razorshrooms and 2 Ironshrooms next to the trees on the left side, plus the 3 Armored Carp in the small pond. Don’t fret about the Armored Carp getting away from you–there’s nowhere for them to run. Also grab the 2 Apples from the apple tree.

We also recommend bombing the trees. These can drop Acorns, Korok Leaves or Tree Branches. Acorns are useful fillers, while the Korok Leaves have useful applications–and we’d advise keeping one with you.

Finally, go over to the cooking pot and get ready to prepare some potentially life-saving dishes. For survival, you can cook a combination of 4 Ironshrooms/Armored Carp together with 1 filler food (something with no buff, eg. Apple). This will provide a Level 3 Defense buff.

(1 of 2) Cook 2 Ironshrooms, 2 Armored Carp and a filler (eg. Apple).

Cook 2 Ironshrooms, 2 Armored Carp and a filler (eg. Apple). (left), Cook 2 (or more) Razorshrooms and as many Mighty Bananas as you’ve got, plus filler. (right)

Next, for future boss fights or when you need a damage boost, cook up to 4 Razorshrooms/Mighty Bananas (the latter gotten randomly from this or previous floors), plus at least 1 filler food (eg. Acorn). 3 of the attack-boosting foods will provide a Level 2 Attack buff, while 4 will provide Level 3.

After that, you can cook whatever remains. If necessary, you can also cook the Wood individually to produce Dubious Food. This “food” will restore a quarter of a heart, which is tiny. But you can get a lot of wood, especially if you blew up trees on previous floors as well. On Normal Mode, you shouldn’t need to do this though.
