(1 of 2) USAF Satellite Station Olivia.

USAF Satellite Station Olivia. (left), The location of the USAF Satellite Station Olivia on the map. (right)

USAF Satellite Station Olivia is almost due east from Sanctuary, northeast from Concord. If you find Tenpines Bluff, you’ve gone too far east. It should be pretty easy to spot when you get close - the satellite dish makes for a fine landmark, and it’s a fairly uncommon icon on your map/compass.

Near USAF Satellite Station Olivia you’ll likely run across Bloatflies and Mole Rats, the latter of which may include a specimen with an attached explosive. Definitely an unusual threat, and you should target this critter first and from a distance, if at all possible. There are also two Raiders lurking about the exterior of the station, and with any luck the Raiders and the critters may weaken each other. If you take damage, there’s a shack with a bed in it you can use to recover.

Inside the station you’ll find around half a dozen Raiders - led by Ack-Ack - and an Attack Dog. These enemies are in rather close proximity and can be dangerous to fight all at once if you’re low level. Ack-Ack is particularly dangerous, being armed with a Minigun, and unlike you she doesn’t have to worry about ammo.. She’s something of a glass cannon, however, as she won’t endure much punishment before dying. You can also find a half dozen or so Radroaches infesting a room beyond a locked [Novice] door.

After descending some stairs, the first obstacle you’ll face is a Laser Tripwire which triggers a roof-mounted Tesla Arc trap. Disarm the tripwire to score some valuable Fiber Optics, then enter a room with a Guard Terminal [Advanced] and a sealed door to the east. You can access the door by hacking the aforementioned terminal, but you can also find a key later on.

Turn north at the intel room door and you’ll find the path splits ahead. If you go east and north down some stairs you’ll find two more doors, through both of which you’ll encounter Raiders. Taking the western fork is safer, as it leads around a corner and past a bathroom to the upper part of a large room full of machinery. Here dwell two Raiders and their Attack Dog. Dispose of them (one regularly patrols down the bathroom-adjacent hallway) and you should be able to keep yourself from getting flanked. If you’re quick, you might avoid alerting the larger group of Raiders to the north. Once the Raiders are dead, grab a Fusion Core out of a reactor (this will not respawn).

The Raiders at the USAF Satellite Station Olivia are led by Ack-Ack, who is armed with a Minigun. (left), Defeat the Raiders and search a toolbox to find a Locket. (right)

Go through an extra-wide doorway to the north to find a series of joined rooms which are crawling with Raiders, including Ack-Ack. Armed with a Minigun, she’s a significant threat, especially at close range. At low levels, you’re not going to endure sustained fire from a Minigun for long, so stay behind cover and try to pick her off when she reloads. Once defeated, grab an Overdue Book from a counter in the room to the east, then make your way north past where Ack-Ack lurked to find a pair of locked doors to the east.

On the ground near these doors you’ll find a Toolbox, within which is the Locket that Abernathy wants. Grab it, then turn your attention to the doors [Novice], which you should be able to pick. In the room beyond you’ll find several Radroaches; you can use an oil slick to thin them out a bit. In the northeastern corner of the room you’ll find an Instrument Case on a table (beware the Radroach hiding under the corpse nearby), wherein you can find the Intel Room Key.

(1 of 2) Search a Radroach-infested back room to find the Intel Room Key.

Search a Radroach-infested back room to find the Intel Room Key. (left), Inside the intel room you can find a US Covert Operations Manual. (right)

With the Intel Room Key you can access the intel room without having to hack the Guard Terminal. In the intel room you’ll find a U.S. Covert Operations Manual (Permanently more difficult to detect while sneaking) and a Mini Nuke, both on some metal shelves in the middle of the room, as well as a locked Safe [Novice] and a Trunk, both full or random goodies. Grab whatever catches your eye, then leave.

If you started the quest Returning the Favor, return to Blake Abernathy and give him the Locket he wanted. Blake is suitably pleased, and rewards you well for the act of kindness. He also suggests that his wife Connie may offer a discount when trading with you, and most importantly, you can now use the Workshop here to build or dismantle objects as you see fit. You can also loot their house freely now - since you’re a family friend, taking their stuff won’t be viewed as stealing. Nice.

Objective Reward
For returning Blake’s daughter’s Locket 345 XP 99 Caps
