Assassin's Creed: Valhalla

On Borrowed Time

By
Scott Peers
&
Seren Morgan-Roberts

This quest begins immediately after Old Friends. To begin, you’ll need to speak with Vili at Ulkerthorpe Fort. If you’re starting this quest immediately after the last one, you just need to jump down from the tower to find Vili at the bottom.

Speak with Vili at Ulkerthorpe Fort

When you speak with Vili he’ll ask you to ride with him to a nearby spring. As you ride northwest toward Stoneburgh, you’ll find that it is ablaze. Follow Vili to the village, and then rescue the villagers from the burning buildings after the cutscene.

Rescue Villagers at Stoneburgh

To rescue the villagers from the buildings, you’ll need to break wooden barriers and revive those within, or let them run out on their own if they’re able. Some of the buildings will have barred doors and you won’t be able to enter at ground level. Instead, you should climb to the top of the buildings and enter that way, then break the lock on the doors from within. You’ll have to rescue people from at least three buildings before the progress bar is filled. Don’t worry about rushing your way through the village, despite the urgency of the quest, you will have plenty of time to rescue enough people.

Once you’ve rescued enough villagers to fill the progress bar, speak with Vili nearby. If you can’t see him, use your raven for a better view. He’ll need you to move a large pillar from the entrance to a house, and then carry the survivors within to a point beyond the gates to the north. Just follow Vili until a cutscene begins.

(1 of 3) Look for the interactive icons if you’re struggling to find villagers that need rescuing.

Meet Vili at Kinder Downfall

After the cutscene, you’ll need to find and speak with Vili at Kinder Downfall, to the north of Stoneburgh, and east of Hemthorpe. Once you reach the waterfall, climb its northern side to reach Vili without being blocked by ice. When you approach Vili a cutscene will begin, during which you’ll have a few dialogue options. Choose as you want here, the outcome will be the same. The conversation between Vili and Eivor will soon be interrupted by news of Hemming’s imminent death. You’ll need to travel to the longhouse at Hemthorpe to see him before he dies.

(1 of 5) The location of Kinder Downfall, west of Hemthorpe.

After the long cutscene in the longhouse, you’ll need to reach Odin’s Rest, to the northwest of the longhouse. Once there, speak with Trygve to begin a cutscene, after which the quest will complete.
