Assassin's Creed: Valhalla

The First Night of Samhain

By

&
Seren Morgan-Roberts

This quest begins once you have pledged to Glowecestrescire from the alliance map in your longhouse at Ravensthorpe. The premise for the forging of this alliance is a little different from the others, in that the initial reason for travelling to Glowecestrescire is to find Gunnar, the Ravensthorpe blacksmith, to bless his new engagement and join in the Samhain festivities.

Find and Speak with Gunnar

To begin, you’ll need to speak with Gunnar, who can be found in western Glowecestre. More specifically, you’ll find him outside a house just northwest of the central stone bridge in Glowecestre. When you speak with Gunnar you’ll have a few dialogue options, but you can choose whatever you want here. When the scene ends, follow Gunnar through the town. Another scene will begin when you meet Tewdwr. It doesn’t matter whether you respond harshly to Tewdwr here or not, the outcome will be the same.

(1 of 2) You’ll find Gunnar just northwest of the stone bridge in Glowecestre.

Escort Tewdwr

After the scene with Tewdwr, follow him north to protect him while he prays at a shrine. When you speak with him a brief cutscene will play, interrupted by an attack from three boars. Kill the boars and then speak with Tewdwr. After the scene, you’ll need to return to Gunnar in the south, at the house where you first found him in Glowecestre. Another scene will begin here, choose whatever dialogue you wish. After the scene you’ll be dressed as the Mari Lwyd, and will need to knock on doors within Glowecestre to trick or treat.

Trick or Treat with Gunnar and Drinking Contest with Tewdwr

You’ll find plenty of houses to trick or treat at surrounding the house where you found Gunnar. Just approach the doors and knock on them, then choose whatever dialogue you like best. You’ll need to knock on three doors before the progress bar is filled, after which you should find Gunnar by the dock to the south of the stone bridge. When you approach him a cutscene will begin, after which you’ll have to aid Gunnar in a fist fight with a Thickskull. This isn’t a difficult fight, but be aware that the Thickskull’s special attacks are executed quicker than most.

After the fight, go through the dialogue options and then meet with Tewdwr in eastern Glowecestre. You’ll find him just outside the longhouse there. Speak with him and agree to the drinking contest. This one will have more rounds than usual, but it doesn’t matter if you lose. After the contest go through the dialogue options, one of which will lead to a brief romance with Tewdwr (the one with a heart next to it). After the cutscene, Eivor will wake up and the quest will complete.

(1 of 5) You’ll need to knock on three doors to fill the progress bar.
