Assassin's Creed: Valhalla

Salve for a Fresh Wound

By
Scott Peers
&
Seren Morgan-Roberts

This quest begins immediately after In the Absence of an Ealdorman. After hearing of his father’s death, Hunwald is devastated. But Eivor realises that he needs to be ready for the coming Shiremoot if he’s to have a chance of becoming the new Ealdorman of Linconscire.

Speak with Acha

To begin, speak with Acha, who can be found at the northern gates of Lincoln. During the conversation you’ll have a few dialogue options to choose from. It doesn’t matter what you go with here, as the outcome will be the same. Acha will tell you that Hunwald has run off to the north of Lincoln. He can likely be found by an old, tall tree, where he used to spend time with his father.

Speak with Hunwald at Ealdorman’s Overlook

When you reach the objective marker north of Lincoln, you’ll find that the area where Hunwald is located is known as Ealdorman’s Overlook. When you speak with Hunwald a cutscene will begin, during which you’ll have a few dialogue options. Go with what feels right to you, as the outcome will be the same.

Escort Hunwald to Grimsby

When the cutscene at Ealdorman’s Overlook is over, you’ll need to escort Hunwald through the countryside. Follow him a short way northeast, until Eivor notices a potential threat ahead. This threat comes in the form of a few Saxon warriors, apparently come to assassinate Hunwald. You’ll need to continue ahead on the road to find and eliminate them, each one being marked by a teal objective marker. If you’re unable to locate them in the bushes, go back to the road until Eivor calls out to Hunwald, and the Saxon warriors will come running to you.

When all the Saxon warriors are dead, you’ll need to follow Hunwald further north to Grimsby, where Swanburrow lives. During the scene you’ll have a few dialogue options. Go with whatever you want here. When the scene ends, the quest will complete.

(1 of 2) Kill the Saxon warriors in the surrounding countryside to protect Hunwald.
