How to Start A Rivalry for the Ages in Ravensthorpe¶
This quest can be acquired from Octavian in your settlement, Ravensthorpe. You’ll need to build the Museum in your settlement before you can speak with Octavian to obtain the quest. When you do, he’ll inform you about a man named Maximilian, who apparently stole a statue of a Roman legionnaire from Octavian. Maximilian lives in Lunden, so you’ll need to travel there to inspect his shop and attempt to retrieve the statue for Octavian. Once there, you’ll find his shop in the centre of the city, just in front of the entrance to the amphitheatre.
When you reach Maximilian’s shop, you’ll find him outside. Speak with him to state your purpose. He’ll refuse to give up the statue at first, but you can acquire it by one of three ways:
-
Convince Maximilian to give you the statue freely (requires Charisma level 5)
-
Pay for the statue by giving Maximilian 130 silver
-
Tell Maximilian that you’ll be back for the statue (this leads to a scenario in which you steal it)
You can take the statue with ease if you choose option 1 or 2, but if you don’t have Charisma level 5 and don’t want to pay for it, stealing is also an option. To do so, choose option 3 and then make your way to the corner at the end of the street, to the south of Maximilian’s location. Here you’ll find a child, who you can hire to distract Maximilian while you steal his key. You’ll have the pay the child a relatively small fee of 65 silver.
Once you’ve paid the child, put your cloak on and wait for them to approach Maximilian. They’ll take him around the corner as they distract him. This is your chance to take the key to his house from the table outside his front door. You can then enter the house and take the statue to your left as you enter (northern end of the house).
Whatever method you choose, once you have the statue you’ll need to return it to Octavian in Ravensthorpe to complete the quest.
