A Dead Man’s Tale mystery is found in the forest west of Nyhofn in Vinland.

Carry the Dead Man to Nyhofn¶
When you approach the pit in the forest, you’ll notice a dead man at the bottom of it. Nearby you’ll be able to read a letter that was written by the man requesting that you carry his body back to Nyhofn. The walk back to Nyhofn is relatively easy so long as you don’t stop along the way as there are a few hostile animals lurking, including a bear near the pit and some mountain lions further into the forest.
When you reach the settlement you’ll need to speak to the woman who begins shouting as you approach the center. Place the body down and speak to her and offer her some consolation. You’ll be asked to give her advice on her future, there are no serious consequences to what you decide so choose whichever you feel is morally right to complete the mystery.
