This page offers a guide on how to complete the Hyrrokin’s Gift mystery in Gullnámar in the Dawn of Ragnarök DLC.
How to Start Hyrrokin’s Gift¶
This mystery is on the hill found south of Uldar and Old City. From the synchronization point just head south until you hear a man’s cries of help. As you approach, the man will ask that you help defeat the angry bear nearby. The bear is reasonably strong but nothing to be worried about!
Once you’ve defeated the bear, locate the man in distress - he’s found cowering near his tent. When you talk to him, he’ll tell you that his name is Frodri and he has a cursed ring (Frodo and the One Ring cough cough). He’ll then ask you to escort him up the hill so he can toss the ring into the fire and destroy it.
Follow Frodri¶
As you follow Frodri (slowly) up the hill, he’ll tell you his story. He was given the ring by a Jotun witch, Hyrrokin, and ever since, he’s been cursed with bad luck. Havi seems to suggest that Frodri is just stupid, though, as the bear attack was his fault for cooking bacon out in the open!
Frodri’s stupidity continues as he stops a little ways up the hill to eat some blue mushrooms. These will make him very sick and you’ll need to give him some safe food to cure him. If you have rations then just talk to him and hand them over, if not, you’ll need to collect some of the yellow mushrooms nearby to fill up your ration supply.
After curing him, continue up the hill. He’ll talk some more about his bad luck and then after a short walk up the hill, you’ll come across a mini Mount Mordor-style pit of lava.
Unfortunately, when he goes to throw the ring into the pit, he falls to his death. All you earn for this world event is 1,200 EXP.
