Bravely Second: End Layer

Side: Vampire Castle (Part 1)

By
Vincent Lau

A Deathly Abode

Vampire Castle sits in the isolated north-west corner of Eternia.

This is the last sidequest before the end of the game and it’s a tough one to be sure. Once you’ve set aside some spare time, fly to the north-west corner of the Eternian continent. There, you should find a foreboding castle surrounded by mountains–this is Vampire Castle.

Upon arrival, the entrance will be wide open unlike in Bravely Default, so head on inside.

Floor 1F

Steel yourself because Vampire Castle is massive–spanning seven floors–and packed to the rafters with nightmarish creatures that you cannot avoid. However, by this stage, there’s little you haven’t seen already, so as long as you proceed cautiously, you should be fine.

From the entrance, go west to start with. As you come into the west wing, ignore the corridor to the west and follow the northward corridor instead. At the end, there’s an Hi-Potion you can grab from the floor. Next, return to the entrance and head north-east.

Upon entering the east wing, follow the passage to the north to reach a chest containing an Ether . Afterwards, go back to the central area and continue north to trigger a cutscene. When you regain control, hurry west for a chest with an X-Potion inside.

Finally, travel east to reach the stairs to the next floor.

Floor 2F

Upstairs, head directly south to discover a chest containing a Lamia’s Tiara . This cool piece of headwear prevents the charm ailment, perfect for freeing up an accessory or ability slot. Once you’ve donned your new headpiece or otherwise, follow the corridor to the right.

Eventually, as you near the south-west corner, the path will divide. Continue traveling while keeping to the west to reach a chest at the end with 5000 pg stashed inside. Afterwards, go through the unvisited path on the right to reach the north part of the floor.

Here, you may inspect the painting hanging opposite the doorway to hear more backstory. Either way, once you’re ready to proceed, make your way west from the painting to find more stairs leading up.

Floor 3F

Begin by heading south. Halfway down the corridor, make a brief detour to the left, where a chest with a Stopwatch awaits to the south. After that, return to the main corridor and pursue it east. Next, head through the opening to the north, surrounded by a pair of lanterns.

Beyond, turn right and follow the eastward passage to recover an Enopu Mushroom from the floor. Next, travel in the opposite direction to arrive at the north side of the floor. Here, another painting desires your attention, while the stairs to the next level are located further east.

Floor 4F

You’re halfway there! To start with, head south through the awkwardly narrow corridor. After squeezing past, make a brief detour to the left to pick up a slice of Cannelle . Next, continue along the outer, purple-carpeted corridor as it turns west further south.

Ignore the doorway leading north and keep going towards the far west; at the end of this path is a trifling Vanille . Having fulfilled your quota for vampiric desserts, backtrack to the northward doorway along the south corridor and follow the passage beyond.

Soon, you’ll come across the fourth painting. Meanwhile, the stairs to the next area can be found in the north-west corner.
