Pathfinder: Kingmaker

P Is for Prosperity

By
Nathan Garvin

Basically a “how-to” quest for Kingdom Stats, it’ll start at the beginning of Chapter 2 and update as you reach various kingdom-related milestones. You won’t really actively attempt to complete most of these objectives, as they should happen organically, as you do other, more important quests, but it’s still informative to go over the objectives as they appear:

When a Kingdom Stat hits an increment of 20, you’ll get an rank up event.

Increase the ranks of barony’s stats 5 times

You have ten Kingdom Stats that measure the development and stability of your kingdom: Community, Loyalty, Military, Economy, Relations, Divine, Arcane, Stability, Culture and Espionage. Each of these Kingdom Stats is represented by an advisor: Regent, Councilor, General, Treasurer, Grand Diplomat, High Priest, Magister, Warden, Curator and Minister, respectively. To increase the rank of a Kingdom Stat you’ll need to gain 20 points in said stat (20 points to hit Rank II, 40 points to hit Rank III, 60 points for Rank IV, etc.), at which point you’ll unlock a “Support the [Advisor]’s Endeavors” project, which will take your protagonist and the advisor in question two weeks to complete, during which time no other actions can be taken. Once this project is complete, you’ll rank up the Kingdom Stat the advisor represents, improving their efficacy at their job.

There are several ways to gain Kingdom Stats, but the most reliable is by completing Events (Problems and Opportunities) with your advisors. The advisor you assign will determine the outcome - if you assign your General to deal with an Event, this indicates a military response of some sort, and suitably will usually increase your Military if successful. Keep this in mind as you assign advisors to deal with Events - you shouldn’t always rely on the character with the highest chance to succeed, as other advisors will need the experience to rank up their own Kingdom Stats.

You’ll satisfy this objective when you rank up any combination of Kingdom Stats five times, which will take at least ten weeks of down-time. It’ll probably happen fairly organically midway through Chapter 2.

Increase the ranks of barony’s stats 10 times

Same as above, save you’ll need ten rank ups. You might manage this during the downtime after Troll Trouble midway through Chapter 2.

Rank up your Kingdom Stats and eventually your advisors will ask you to delegate some of their responsibilities to others.

Unlock any secondary stat of your barony

When your Community, Loyalty, Military or Divine reach Rank IV, the advisor representing said Kingdom Stat will approach you and ask you to delegate some of their responsibilities to a new advisor, as the job has simply grown too large for one person. This will unlock the Grand Diplomat, Curator, Warden or Magister advisor roles, respectively, and complete this objective.

A list of all the advisor roles and how to unlock them follows:

Advisoral Role Kingdom Stat Governing Attribute Unlocked By
Regent Community Charisma Chapter 2 Start
Councilor Loyalty Wisdom Chapter 2 Start
General Military Strength Chapter 2 Start
Treasurer Economy Intelligence Chapter 2 Start
High Priest Divine Wisdom Chapter 2 Start

At the mansion of the Swordlord Jamandi Aldori, adventurers have gathered, lured by the promise of dominion should one of them conquer the nearby Stolen Lands and oust its current overlord - the Stag Lord. You are one such adventurer, and Jamandi’s offer isn’t just a benevolent call-to-arms to make the Stolen Lands safe for normal folk, there’s political angles to its conquest, and the ultimate allegience of its new ruler. More than that, however, a sinister, primordial force has her own interests in the Stolen Lands, and a desire to see new rulers rise… and fall. The Pathfinder: Kingmaker guide includes a full walkthrough of the game’s main campaign, including various side quests, companion quests and strategies.
