Description¶

This page offers a guide on grabbing the Shine Sprite in Episode 9 of Ricco Harbor. This area is accessed via the Rainbow M on the side of the Boathouse on the west side of Delfino Plaza once you’ve obtained at least 3 Shines and defeated the Polluted Piranha.

Return to Ricco Tower¶

In order to reach this Shine, you’ll first need to select Episode 4: The Secret of Ricco Tower again and make your return to the tower however consider getting there with the Hover Nozzle still equipped (use the chimney stack to hover over to it) as it will be more useful for the task ahead. Once there, you’ll discover that you’re still in possession of FLUDD this time and that a mysterious red button has appeared, Ground Pound it to get the collection underway.

To begin with, you’ll find the 1st and 2nd Red Coins on the first set of wooden rotating beams. Once you reach the area with the 1-Up Mushroom, keep using Wall Kicks to reach the top where both the 3rd and 4th Red Coins await. You’ll reach the spinning cogs next, hop over to the central one to discover the 5th Red Coin and then jump over to the next platform. Now comes the tricky part, the 6th Red Coin is found on the second rotating beam while the 7th Red Coin is on the fourth, make use of the Hover Nozzle to stop yourself from falling. The 8th and final Red Coin can be found on the long platform just before the end of the course, collect it and then snag the Shine at the end.
