Total Coins Coins from Enemies
106 0

The 100 Coins star in Dire, Dire Docks will require you to collect the majority of the coins available, as you can see there’s only 106 total coins in the course. Because of that fact, you will need to get all but three of the Red Coins, so you will need Bowser in the Fire Sea to be completed. Also, since there are no enemies that yield coins, you don’t have to worry about missing any coins from that. There is a Blue Coin Block in the course, but the Blue Coins are so close to one another, that it’s quite difficult to miss any of them.

There are five coins located on a slope near the top of the first area (left), There’s a lot of coins near the entrance of the tunnel (right)

Upon first starting the stage, look down and to the right to spot five coins on a slope near the surface (5). Swim straight down from there to find two vertically stacked columns of five coins each (15). While still on the floor, start swimming over towards the tunnel, where there should be three ungrouped coins near one of the chests (18). Near the tunnel’s entrance, you will find two rings of coins, consisting of eight each, as well as one more ring of eight coins inside the tunnel (42). That’s all of the coins in the first area, so take the tunnel to the second area.

When you enter the second area, head left to find five coins in front of the giant hole that Bowser’s sub exited (47). These coins can be highly annoying to grab, as the suction from the giant opening will not only constantly move Mario, but the camera will be a little crazy here. While still on the floor in the water, travel over to the opposite side of the area, where you should find eight coins near one of the Clams (55). That’s all of the coins in the water now, so hop onto the boardwalk to locate five coins by a signpost (60). The remaining coins will be the Red Coins, as well as from the Blue Coin Block, so use the purple switch to get on the floating platforms.

(1 of 2) Don’t forget about the coins near the large exit in the second area

Don’t forget about the coins near the large exit in the second area (left), It’s very hard to miss any of the Blue Coins due to their close proximity (right)

It is best to leave the Blue Coins for last, as that gives you a stable place in which to collect the 100 coins star. Remember that you can omit three Red Coins and still get 100 coins, so if you don’t feel like collecting the three on the far end, there’s no need to go over there. So, there will be one Red Coin on the first platform, as well as three more from the first pole (68). From there, if you’re collecting all of the coins, then head to the far back and get those now (74). Backtrack and go past the Blue Coin Block, collecting the final Red Coin (76). Trigger the Blue Coin Block and collect the Blue Coins to finish up (106).
