Description

Dusty Dune Galaxy is found in the Bedroom dome and requires 29 stars to unlock.

Soaring on the Desert Winds

The goal of this level is to reach the final planet and scale the tower with the use of tornadoes, wall jumps and Sling Stars.

Enemies

  • Cluckbooms - Cluckbooms are flying enemies that will attack you by laying eggs that explode after a few seconds. You can defeat them by using a spin attack. You can shoot a Star Bit at them to temporarily ground them, making them easier to hit.

  • Boulders - Boulders will essentially just run over Mario if he’s in their path. To break them, you need to spin attack their ruby core, which is easier said than done!

  • Dry Bones - Dry Bones are tenacious enemies that will move slowly towards you to try and damage you. They can be defeated by jumping on them or using your spin attack. However, they can revive themselves from these attacks. The only way to keep a Dry Bones down is to use a Rainbow Star and running into them or using a Bullet Bill to defeat them on impact.

Dry Bones can crumble easily.

  • Goombas - Goombas will simply run at you and try to damage you by touching Mario. To defeat them, spin attack them then run at them to kick them away, or just jump on their head.

  • Pirahna Plants - Piranha Plants will try to bite Mario. They have a fairly large range, so you’ll have to be quick if you want to defeat the plant before it bites.

  • Thwomps - Thwomps will act as hazards in the level and you will instantly lose a life if they squash you. They can be defeated by any means but can be used as enviromental assists to help you reach different areas of the level.

Blasting through the Sand

The goal of this level is to reach the maze planet and press the button on one side of the planet so that it creates temporary platforms on the reverse side so that you can reach the Power Star.

Enemies

  • Pokey - Pokey’s will attack Mario by trying to slam their head into you. You can also take damage by just touching them. To defeat a Pokey you have to hit its head by jumping on it or spin attack. You can destroy it’s body segments by using your spin attack, making the Pokey easier to defeat. If you don’t defeat the head in time after getting rid of all of their body segments, the body segments will reappear.

  • Pokey Heads - Pokey Heads are similair to Pokey’s as they can damage you by touching, but are easier to defeat as they are just heads and you can therefore just jump on them or hit them with a spin attack.

  • Eye Beamers - Eye Beamers are indestrcutable hazards that shoots a constant laser and will damage you if you touch it.

Be careful avoiding threats from above!

  • Tweesters - Tweesters can act like tornadoes and help you get around the level by propelling if you spin in them. However, unlike tornadoes they will carry debris as they spin which can hurt Mario if you touch them.

Other Enemies

  • Boulders
  • Dry Bones
  • Goombas
  • Thwomps

Sunbaked Sand Castle

The goal of this level is to reach the Power Star at the top of the upside down tower while the levels of sand continues to rise.

Enemies

  • Big Thorney Flower - Big Thorney Flowers as the name suggest are dangerous hazrds if Mario touches them. You can defeat them by launching a coconut at them with your spin attack.

  • Big Pokey - The Big Pokey occupies its own planet, surrounded by coconuts. He will try to attack you by slamming its body on the ground. To defeat him, you’ll need to spin a coconut at him and then run and jump on his head whilst he’s temporarily underground.

  • Crabbers - Crabbers are tough enemies that cannot be defeated by a direct spin attack due to their hard shells. To defeat them you have to spin attack their rear ends. The red Crabbers will give you Star Bits when you defeat them and the cyan Crabber will actually give you a 1-Up Mushroom after defeating them.

  • Mini Goombas - They will run at you when they see you and try to damage you by touching you. They can be easily defeated by using a spin attack or jumping on them.

  • Koopa Troopa - Koopa Troopas can be be defeated and by jumping on them which leaves the shell for you to use as a projectile that can defeat other enemies or open chests.

Other Enemies

  • Cluckbooms
  • Dry Bones
  • Piranha Plant

Hidden Star: Bullet Bill on Your Back

This hidden star level is found within the Sunbaked Sand Castle level. This level has a new area that has the addition of Bullet Bill enemies. The goal is to find the Power Star in the new area which will be trapped in a cage where you need to use the Bullet Bill to get access to the star.

New Enemies

  • Bullet Bill - Bullet Bills will lock onto you and fly towards you if they spot you. The best way to defeat them in this level is to guide them into flying towards any object.

Other Enemies

  • Big Thorney Flower
  • Big Pokey
  • Crabbers
  • Mini Goombas
  • Koopa Troopa
  • Cluckbooms
  • Dry Bones
  • Piranha Plant

Hidden Green Star: Treasure of the Pyramid

This hidden star can be found in the Blasting through the Sand level. The goal of this level is to make the new pyramid planet appear by feeding a Hungry Luma 20 Star Bits. The Hungry Luma can be found in on the underside of the first set of platforms you go to after launching from the first Launch Star.

This level has no new enemies from Blasting through the Sand, and will only encounter the first few enemies from that level.
This is due to the fact that the new area only consists of you finding five Silver Stars scattered within the pyramid.

Other Enemies

  • Dry Bones
  • Pokey Heads
  • Pokey
  • Boulders

Comet Star: Sandblast Speed Run

This level is identical to the Blasting through the Sand level. This level is only available when the Speedy Comet is in orbit. The Power Star will be located in the same place, you just need to reach it in under four minutes and thirty seconds.

Some enemies are removed from this speed run level.

Other Enemies

  • Pokey Heads
  • Pokey
  • Boulders
