The 100 Coins star in Hazy Maze Cave will take a little while to get, as the coins are more scattered than in previous courses. At the beginning, take out the Scuttle Bug right in front of you for three coins (3). Take the right path first, defeating one Scuttle Bug shooting out from the hole for another three coins, then collect the five coins on the thin ledge a little past that (11). Enter the door at the end to arrive in the Work Elevator area, then drop to the floor to go after the two Scuttle Bugs there (17). Make your way to the stairs and the elevator with the buttons you need to step on.

You can get a lot of coins from the enemies in this course

You will be making your way over to the Mr. I in the center of the room, but you can collect two Red Coins in the boxes near it (21). Jump on the very small platform and catch the attention of the Mr. I, then slowly walk around it to defeat it (26). Return to the elevator and grab the third Red Coin in the box, as well as the other Red Coin in the one corner (30). If you wish to try your hand at the other Mr. I, try and do so, but the area for movement is a lot smaller than the central one (35). Make your way to the top elevator that moves automatically and take a ride on it to collect the four Red Coins (43).

Drop back down to the ground and use the wooden door on the one side to enter the room with the hole leading to the Hazy Maze, making sure to grab the five coins before entering the hole (48). First and foremost, the Monty Moles do not drop any coins, so you can completely ignore them. Run forward and quickly defeat the Snufit for two coins (50). Don the Metal Cap and backtrack to the two Monty Moles, heading in that direction. You will find two more Snufits past the moles, netting yourself another four coins (54). Find your way to the Blue Coin Block, but don’t hit it yet.

Some of the nearby Swoops will probably come after you and each one will yield a single coin, so get rid of them first; there’s four Swoops in total (58). Return to the Blue Coin Block and before hitting it, plot a course, as it’s possible to get seven Blue Coins from it. The problem is that the timer is very short, so unless you know where the Blue Coins are located, you won’t be able to get them all. As soon as you hit the block, drop down the biggest drop and immediately turn right. Follow this path over to the single Monty Mole and jump up to the one door (93). There will be one more Snufit around the corner from the lone Monty Mole (95).

(1 of 2) Getting all of the Blue Coins can be difficult due to the short timer

Getting all of the Blue Coins can be difficult due to the short timer (left), Don’t forget that the island in the lake has some coins (right)

Enter the previously mentioned door and take out the two Swoops in the hallway (97), then take the elevator to arrive in the area above the Black Hole. Climb the grating to collect the five coins there (102), then try to drop down to where the boulders are rolling. There will be another five coins on the side of the slope as you’re going up (107). Pass through the door and collect the eight coins (115), then take the elevator down to the Underground Lake. You will find eight coins on the central island, so use Dorrie to get on it (123). That should be more than enough coins for the 100 coins star. There are more coins available in the level, though, in case you need more, such as enemies in the passages leading to other elevators.
