Stand Tall on the Four Pillars

The four pillars surrounding the pyramid have been mentioned a few times thus far and it’s time to finally tackle them with this star. What you need to do is stand on top of each one of them and should you do this properly, then the top of the pyramid will pop up and explode. This star can be a little tricky, since two of the pillars are located in danger spots, one of which is in the one-touch-death quicksand. You will have a few ways to go about touching the top of the pillars, though, with the basic solution being to go to each one normally.

(1 of 2) Make sure you land on the pillar to make it count

Make sure you land on the pillar to make it count (left), The top of the pyramid will fly off if done right (right)

Fortunately, you have other easier options in touching the top of the pillars, like with the Wing Cap or the Koopa shell. The Wing Cap can be a little troublesome, since it might be hard to land on the top of the pillars, but it will definitely make it a lot easier getting to the pillars themselves. The Koopa shell is definitely the fastest way, but it can be a bit unreliable, as you will be moving fast and the game might not register you touching the top of the pillars.

However you do things, once the top of the pyramid is open, get to the top and enter the hole there. You will land in an elevator, which will descend until you’re square with a hole in the central structure inside the pyramid. Jump into the hole and drop down the corridor until you see an altar of some kind. Jump towards it and you should trigger a mini-boss battle.

MINI-BOSS - Eyerok

You will be pitted against a pair of stone hands, both of which will have an eyeball on their palms. While one of the hands attacks, the other one will stay still and open up its eye for an attack from your end. It will take three hits for each hand to defeat them. Attacks from Eyerok include a chop, where the hand will rise in the air and attempt to land on top of you, as well as moving to one side and attempting to push you off the platform. Lastly, there is one other attack where both hands will sweeping chopping move from one end of the platform to the other.

(1 of 2) The eye on the palm is the weak point

The eye on the palm is the weak point (left), Eyerok will attempt to push you off the platform (right)

It’s best to alternate your hits on Eyerok, so you only need a single hit to defeat the second hand. Whenever you have one hand remaining, it will open its eye and rush towards you, attempting to push you off the platform. Whenever you finish off both hands, the star will spawn on the altar.
