Description¶
This level is found in Sand Spiral Galaxy and is the one and only Power Star in this galaxy. You need to feed the Hungry Luma 1000 Star Bits outside the Engine dome. To unlock this galaxy you will need to have already obtained the Faster than a Speeding Penguin Power Star and Luigi’s Haunted Mansion Power Star.
Choosing a Power Up¶
Starting the level you’ll land on what’s left of an Airship. There’ll be an Magikoopa waiting for you and will start shooting fireballs at you. The Magikoopa will start warping as you move forward and will try and stay out of reach. It is best to defeat the Magikoopa as soon as you can, otherwise it will only add to the number of hazards you will face.
The Sling Star at the end of the airship will take you to the entrance of a barrel shaped planet. At the entrance you have the choice to choose between two power ups - the Boo Mushroom or the Bee Mushroom.
Choose the power up you’re most comfortable with.
Journey through the Center of the Barrel Planet¶
If you choose to become Boo Mario you’ll have to avoid the numerous moving beams of light positioned throughout the planet. This is in addition to the number of Boos who will be attracted to you.
Choosing the Bee Mushroom will turn you into Bee Mario, meaning you’ll have to avoid different hazards. For one, the limited flight you have as Bee Mario means if you can’t find a platform to land on you’ll fall into the flowing sand that runs through the planet and lose a life. Luckily there will be poles and platforms distributed throughout that you can try and land on. There are also a row of Water Shooters that if hit you’ll lose the Bee Mario power up! There are also two bats near the end but they can be easily avoided if you fly over them.
There’ll be hazards for both Bee Mario and Boo Mario!
You will then reach the Sling Star, which will take you out of the area and onto the part of the level.
Spiral around the Power Star¶
When you reach the next area, you’ll see a ring of platforms circling a moon with a Power Star on top. On the starting platform you’ll see a Rainbow Star that you can use to blitz your way through the mines that are placed in the area. Once you make it onto the spiraling platform, start moving in the direction of the platform. There will be other Rainbow Stars along this platform to ensure you can stay in this invincible state.

As you get closer to the central moon , you should be able to make the jump and be pulled towards it due to gravity. When you land on the moon, all you need to do now is just jump and take the Power Star.
