In Elden Ring, you’ll find a wide range of characters that will share their plight with you, most of these will have Quests that span multiple locations. This page will detail where you can find D, Hunter of the Dead and complete his Questline.
D, Hunter of the Undead, will warn you that Summonwater Village has been touched by death.
First Meeting - Stormhill, west of Summonwater Village¶
D, Hunter of the Dead, can be found in Stormhill west of the Summonwater Village Site of Grace. If you follow the path from the Saintsbridge Site of Grace east towards the Summonwater Site of Grace, you’ll find D will be just over halfway along the path, to your right. As you approach him, he’ll be standing over a corpse. Talk to him and he’ll warn you to turn back whilst you still can, mention that the village has been touched by death.
D, Hunter of the Undead, can be found just off the side of the road in-between Sainstbridge and Summonwater Village.
Like most warnings in games, ignore his advice and take a trip to Summonwater Village, which can be found to the east of D. When you get there, you may see a ghost on a ghost boat…yes, a ghost on a ghost boat. This will be the boss Tibia Mariner which you will have to defeat to progress D’s quest. With the boss defeated, D will move to Summonwater Village, standing by the remains of a tree stump in the southwest. Talk to him and he’ll notice you have a Deathroot (dropped by the boss). He’ll ask if you want to hunt any more of “Those Who Live in Death”, and if so, he’ll introduce you to Gurrang the beast clergyman“. Accept his introduction and he’ll place a red marker on your map to a portal which can take you to him.

After exhausting all of his dialogue, make your way to the Red Marker on your map, east of the village. The quickest way to get there is by teleporting to the Third Church of Marika Site of Grace. From there, exit the ruins, and head north towards the marker. Take the portal, and it’ll take you to the Bestial Sanctum. Open the large double doors in front of you, and talk to Gurrang who is at the end of the hall. This is the end of D’s quest for now until you have full access to Roundtable Hold.
The portal that D gives you will lead to the Bestial Sanctum where Gurrang resides. He’ll trade various items for Deathroot.
Second Meeting - Roundtable Hold¶
Once you’ve been to visit Gurrang at the Bestial Sanctum and handed over at least one Deathroot, you’ll find him sitting at the Table of Lost Grace in Roundtable Hold. Speak to him and he’ll remark that you’re now brothers of a sort, and offer to sell you the following Incantations:

You won’t be able to progress D’s Questline until you start and progress Fia and Rogier’s Questlines.
Final Meeting - Roundtable Hold¶
Once you’ve seen Rogier’s Questline to completion, you will obtain a note from Rogier about D’s twin brother. You must now advance Fia’s Quest by obtaining at least two Great Runes and have used the Grand Lift of Dectus to reach the Altus Plateau. With this done, speak to Fia and ask her to hold you and this time, you’ll be able to speak to her and she will hand over the Weathered Dagger, asking you to find the owner.

This owner is D, head over to him and hand it to him and he will remark that he knows who it belongs to and requests that you leave it with him. At this point, you’ll need to refresh the Roundtable Hold by resting at the Site of Grace and then when you head towards Smithing Master Hewg, you’ll notice the door at the back is now open.
When you head inside, you’ll spot D on the ground, dead, with Fia standing over him. Once Fia vanishes, you’ll be able to head over to his body to collect his Bell Bearing along with the Twinned Set. Keep hold of this set and be sure that you don’t alter it, it’s required to advance the Quest of D’s Twin Brother.
