In Elden Ring, you’ll find a wide range of characters that will share their plight with you, most of these will have Quests that span multiple locations. This page will detail where you can find Merchant Kalé and complete his Questline.
Merchant Kalé will be one of the first friendly faces you run into.
First Meeting - Church of Elleh¶
Merchant Kalé is one of the first faces you will see once you truly venture out into the Lands Between. Indeed, he should be your first port of call once you’re done speaking with Varré and you can reach him by heading north (avoiding the imposing Tree Sentinel in the process) and you’ll reach the Church of Elleh.
Speak to Kalé to learn a bit about the Nomadic Merchants and their customs, and he’ll advise you to purchase a Crafting Kit from him. Take him up on the offer, this is an item that you’ll want as soon as possible and then be sure to exhaust all of his dialogue options.
Kalé will offer to see you his wares in his first meeting.

Kalé has a wealth of useful items to start your journey on, consider visiting him to stock on them in the early stages of the game. A Torch is useful for exploring the light averse caves and the Telescope is useful for scouting ahead.

Second Meeting - Church of Elleh¶
Return to Merchant Kalé once you’ve set foot in the Mistwood Ruins for the first time and heard a wolf whistle. When you speak to him, you can ask him about the wolf whistle and he’ll give you the Snap Fingers Gesture, telling you to use it next time you hear the whistle. This will lead to an encounter with Blaidd in the Mistwood Ruins and begin his own Quest. You can return to Kalé and inform him of your meeting with Blaidd and he’ll remark on the situation.
