First Meeting - Waypoint Ruins Cellar

To begin her quest, you will first have to find Sorceress Sellen in the cellar beneath the Waypoint Ruins. The cellar can be accessed by first jumping the wall just south of the Giant Flower and descending the stairs there. Alternatively, you can kill the flowers for a decent rune reward and proceed onwards. A fog gate at the bottom of the stairs indicates a boss housed within - namely the Mad Pumpkin Head. He is a powerful foe, armed with a flail and if you get hit, he will do considerable damage. He is slow, however, and can be kept at range if a magic user or if a melee user, some well-timed rolls can avoid his cumbersome attempts.

(1 of 2) Find the cellar entrance

After defeating the Mad Pumpkin Head, open the door at the back of the cellar to reveal Sorceress Sellen. Speak with her and, after assessing your aptitude (based on your Intelligence stat), she will ask if you wish to study Sorcery. Reply in the affirmative and she will then sell a variety of Sorceries most notably the Glintstone Star and the Scholar’s Armament spells. You will also gain the Nod in Thought gesture.

List of Sorceries Available After First Meeting

Second Meeting - After Meeting Azur

As you press on to Mt. Gelmir and explore the Hermit Village southeast of Volcano Manor, you’ll find a Sorcerer by the name of Azur sitting next to a Site of Grace of the same name. Interact with Azur and you’ll obtain the Comet Azur Sorcery and trigger the next part of Sellen’s Questline. Return to her at the Waypoint Ruins and she’ll ask you to look for another Sorcerer, Master Lusat, and hand over the Sellen Sealbreaker that will allow you to enter the room he resides in.

(1 of 3) First, obtain the Comet Azur from the back of Hermit Village in Mt. Gelmir

Make your way to Caelid and head northeast from the Church of Plague to locate a graveyard. Head through until you locate a large tombstone and then run to the cliff behind it and strike it to reveal a hidden passage to the Sellia Hideaway dungeon. Progress through here and then, once you reach the second large pit, drop down to the bottom and you’ll find the locked door. Break the seal and head inside to speak to Lusat and obtain the Stars of Ruin Sorcery.

Third Meeting - After defeating Starscourge Radahn

Once you’ve progressed through Caelid and defeated Starscourge Radahn, you will have met Witch-Hunter Jerren when you return to the castle plaza. Return to Sellen at the Waypoint Ruins and she’ll ask you to meet her in person at the Witchbane Ruins in the Weeping Peninsula, Limgrave. You’ll find these ruins to on the west of the peninsula, head there and you’ll locate some stairs leading to where Sellen’s body is imprisoned. Speak with her and agree to help her to obtain Sellen’s Primal Glintstone.

Return to Sellen after defeating Radahn to obtain her Glintstone.

Fourth Meeting - Three Sisters, Liurnia

Proceed through Liurnia of the Lakes and you’ll eventually reach the Caria Manor. After defeating Royal Knight Loretta, you’ll be able to exit the manor to the north to reach Three Sisters. You’ll find three towers in this region and if you look to the ruins between Ranni’s Rise and Renna’s Rise, you’ll find a singular Sorcerer to kill.

Once he’s defeated, slash at the ground to find some hidden stairs leading down to a laboratory full of puppets. Head to the back of the room here and slash the wall to find another hidden passage, this one revealing Sellen. Interact with Sellen to place the Primal Glintstone in it and transfer Sellen’s soul into the new puppet, thus freeing her from her chains. Return to the Witchbane Ruins and you’ll locate Witch-Hunter Jerren once more, who remarks that he’s sure Sellen has escaped.

Final Meeting - Raya Lucaria Academy

Once you’ve cleared Raya Lucaria Academy, return to the Raya Lucaria Grand Library Site of Grace and head outside, you’ll find two summon signs either side of the door. A gold one that will summon you to the aid of Sellen against Witch-Hunter Jerren, doing this will result in Jerren’s death and end his Questline here, preventing the rewards from that. The red sign will allow you to invade Sellen and assist Jerren, ending Sellen’s Questline and preventing her rewards, you must make a decision as you cannot complete both on a single playthrough. As for rewards, Sellen’s conclusion offers the greater rewards (you can find out more about Jerren’s rewards on his respective NPC page).

Jerren should be a pushover with Sellen using her sorcery from range, once he’s defeated you’ll obtain the Eccentric’s Armor set and return to the Grand Library where Sellen will replace Rennala. Speak with her to exhaust her dialogue and she’ll hand over the Glintstone Kris along with offering a new Sorcery spell, Shard Spiral to her shop. If you’ve already visited Lusat and obtained his Sorcery, refresh the area and speak to Sellen again, before doing the same once more.

(1 of 4) You will receive this armor set if you come to the aid of Sellen

You’ll now find that Rennala has returned and Sellen’s appearance has taken a rather drastic change, speak with her to obtain the Witch’s Glintstone Crown. This is the end of Sellen’s Questline, but you’ll still be able to speak with her here to purchase anymore Sorceries. As an additional bonus, you can return to where you found both Azur and Lusat to obtain their Armor sets.
