In Elden Ring, you’ll find a wide range of characters that will share their plight with you, most of these will have Quests that span multiple locations. This page will detail where you can find Smithing Master Hewg and how to upgrade your weapons.

You will find Smithing Master Hewg at the Roundtable Hold.

How to Find Smithing Master Hewg¶

You’ll be able to meet the Twin Maiden Husks when you set foot in the Roundtable Hold for the first time. Once you reach the Hold, head down the passage to the left of the hearth and you’ll find the smith, banging away at metal. After a short chat with him, he’ll agree to upgrade your weapons or change your Ash of War (he’ll even offer to duplicate them for you!).

Upgrading Weapons Beyond +3¶

Until now, you’ve most likely been using the tools at the Church of Elleh to upgrade your weapons, only to notice that you cannot take them beyond +3. This changes with Hewg, who will take your weapons all the way to +25, provided you have the different tiers of materials needed along with a small recompense in Runes. Below you’ll find what Upgrade material you’ll need to reach each rank:

Where to Find Smithing Stones¶

You’ll be able to find all ranks of Smithing Stones and Somber Smithing Stones throughout the Lands Between, and our Overview pages for each region will point out where these can be found. Eventually, the best way to stockpile a lot of these are to obtain the numerous Bell Bearings of the Twin Maiden Husks to permanently add them to their Shop. You’ll be able to buy both Smithing and Somber Smithing Stones, but you’ll have to track down any Ancient Dragon Smithing Stones you’re after.
