Players have jumped into the Dragon’s Dogma 2 launch, only to find that they cannot create new saves at launch. With the posts now making their way to Capcom, the developers have announced that they are going to work on adding a New Game option to Dragon’s Dogma 2 as one of the pressing matters on the game.
New Game Option coming to Dragon’s Dogma 2¶
Per the announcement of the Day 1 community update post, Capcom is working on adding a new game option to Steam. In the post, they say the following:
We are looking at adding a feature to the Steam version of the game that will allow players who are already playing to restart the game. We will announce more details as soon as we can.
So, at some point, the feature will be officially supported.
Until then, if you intend on creating your own new game, then you will need to manually find the save file location in Dragon’s Dogma 2, and then edit the save files yourself. You can typically find the save file directory here on Windows machines: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\AccountID\remote\win64_save
Go into that folder, and from there, you can move the data001 and other files of that file nature away into a backup folder or delete them outright. If you choose to delete them, you should get the option to start a whole new save. You can also backup save files for future save scumming or go back to an old gameplay save if that’s more your thing.
Until then, keep an eye on the official Dragon’s Dogma 2 channels to keep an eye as the post-day 1 launch content and patch updates to address future stability, features, and bug fixes that are due to arrive.
