Each enemy in Dragon’s Dogma 2 drops their own resource which can then be used for crafting and upgrading your gear. One of the rarer items you are unlikely to come across is Boltscale. This resource isn’t found from your common group of Goblins or a rogue Harpy. Instead, you will have to search for it off the beaten path.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Boltscale Location¶

Boltscale can be found in Darkhorde Cave, just south of Sacred Arbor in Vermund. You will need to kill the Striking Serpents in the cavern and grab the Boltscale from their bodies. Keep in mind that these Serpents will use lightning-based powers and have a lot of health.

So, if you can help it, don’t fight them in the cave itself. Head back outside and take them down by landing finishing blows after cutting off their tails.

The trek up this cavern isn’t an easy one, so be sure to prepare yourself well with healing items and other curatives.

They are weak to Ice, so using ice spells or ice-imbued weapons is a good strategy to take them down. Boltscale is a random drop from their corpses so if you don’t get any, simply rest for a bit at a campfire or inn and come back to allow them to respawn.

This is the only location where we have found Serpents currently, but we will be sure to update this article with any other spots where we find them down the line.
