Dragon's Dogma 2

How to Get a House in Vermund and Battahl

By
Scott Peers

The housing system in the original Dragon’s Dogma was rather limited, but players will be glad to learn that it’s a lot more expansive in Dragon’s Dogma 2. You can get your first house fairly early on in the game, just as soon as you reach Vernworth (after waiting a week once you start the associated quest!). After that, you’ll have another opportunity to purchase a more expensive house in Vernworth, and the same goes for the next capital city that you’ll reach, Bakbattahl. On this page, we’ll show you how to get these houses, and what you can do with them.

You can eventually purchase a grand house in the Noble Quarter of Vernworth in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

House Locations in Vermund – Vernworth

The first opportunity you’ll have to get a house in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is in Vernworth, the capital city of Vermund. You won’t be able to purchase the house as soon as you visit for the first time, but you can get started with the quest which eventually allows you to do it. If you want to learn more about that, be sure to check our A Place to Call Home Walkthrough for a detailed guide. If you want a brief overview, the basic steps involve speaking with an NPC within the city, and then waiting a week in-game for them to return. During that time, you can venture out into the wilderness, complete other quests in the city, and generally do your best to acquire at least 20,000 gold. By the time a week in-game has passed, depending on how often you’ve rested, you should have more than enough to invest in your first house in the city.

Should You Buy the House in Vernworth?

Although it’s not a requirement, we recommend purchasing this first house as soon as possible, since it’ll provide you with a reliable place to rest for free without having to rely on finding Campsites, and you won’t have to spend any more gold by resting at inns. You’ll also be able to access storage from the house, just as you can with most inns. In addition, the house will serve as a place where some NPCs can contact you by leaving gifts outside the front door, so be sure to check there whenever you visit!

Once you’ve got your first house in Vernworth, it won’t be long until you stumble into the Noble Quarter and discover that there’s a more upmarket house for sale. This one costs 200,000 gold however, so it’ll probably be out of your price range until at least the mid-end game, and it’s not necessarily worth the investment unless you’re positively swimming in gold. You should probably prioritize properly kitting out your character and main pawn instead.

House Locations in Battahl - Bakbattahl

If you’re not too bothered about having a house in Vernworth, or you just want a second one in the Battahl region, you can actually purchase another relatively cheap one in Bakbattahl, its capital city. You won’t need to complete a quest for this one, but you should wander through the streets until you meet a Beastren NPC named Adrea, who will sell you the house for 30,000 gold. There’s another more expensive option here in Bakbattahl, but it’ll cost 300,000 gold, and you can find the NPC who offers it around the Flamebearer Palace grounds.

(1 of 4) Speak with Corlatta to purchase an expensive house in Bakbattahl.

There may be other opportunities to purchase additional houses throughout the game world in Dragon’s Dogma 2, so we’ll be updating this page with more information as we find them. You can also bet that the modding community will be looking forward to playing with the housing system, especially now that the game has a more mod-friendly engine than its predecessor.
