Dragon's Dogma 2

All Portcrystal Locations and Where to Place Them in Dragon's Dogma 2

By
Echo Apsey

Fast Travel is one of the more complex mechanics in Dragon’s Dogma 2. It doesn’t work like most other open-world games and in our Fast Travel explained guide we mention that you can travel to "Portcrystal" iconPortcrystals using "Ferrystone" iconFerrystones, alongside using Oxcarts. So, where are all the Portcrystal locations in "Dragon" iconDragon’s Dogma 2, and where should you place the custom ones? After all, there are a lot of important locations throughout the open world.

Well, on this page we will cover where to find Portcrystals, how you can buy more, and the best spots to place them to have proper fast travel coverage across Vermund and Battahl.

Portcrystal Locations in Dragon’s Dogma 2

The locations of all the Portcrystals in the game are:

The Vernworth and Harve Village crystals can easily be grabbed upon visiting the capital and village by touching them. However, the rest of the Portcrystals will need to be placed manually. These are given to you in chests, upon completing quests, and from merchants, but there are some key locations you are going to want to cover with their placements.

(1 of 2) The easiest Portcrystal to find is the one in central Vernworth

First of all, Bakbattahl doesn’t have a Portcrystal and it is a key location you will revisit, so it is best to drop a Portcrystal in its center. Additionally, in the far south, there is the Volcanic Island which doesn’t have a Portcrystal, so you will want to do the same in the Volcanic Island Camp settlement.

Additionally, getting to the southwest of Battahl is a bit of a pain and you don’t want to traverse Drabnir’s Grotto, or the rocky cliffsides on the way there from Bakbattahl. So, we suggest dropping one on the western side of the dungeon. Finally, the Mountain Shrine in the far north is the home of the "Sphinx" iconSphinx, as well as the Misty Marshes. There also isn’t a great Portcrystal in the north of Vermund, so this spot allows you to get around and explore all of these areas easily.

(1 of 4) Placing a port crystal in Bakbattahl is a must.

Therefore, the best places to put Portcrystals are in Bakbattahl, the Mountain Shrine, the Volcanic Island Camp, and the western side of Drabnir’s Grotto.

Where to buy and get more Portcrystal items in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Places where you can buy and get more Portcrystal items in Dragon’s Dogma 2 include the "Bay Wayside Shrine" iconBay Wayside Shrine in Vermund, from Brant’s quests, and the "Griffin" iconGriffin nest to the South of the Misty Marshes.

(1 of 2) An easy place to get Portcrystals is from this shrine, but you will need Wyrmslife crystals from Dragons.

Brant’s Portcrystals will be given to you from the Inn in Vernworth when completing quests. However, the other ones are a little trickier to find. You can easily get the one at the Griffin Nest by climbing up the mountainside just south of the Marshes and killing the Griffin on the other side. The Bay Wayside Shrine is most easily accessible from the shoreline in Battahl - but can be reached from Vermund too.

They aren’t super common in the open world, so you will need to be thoughtful about where you place your Portcrystals upon getting them. Don’t just stick them down right where you find them. When you beat the game and move over to New Game Plus, your Portcrystal items will come with you so you will start your playthrough with however many you found in your initial run.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is the long-awaited sequel to a predecessor that gained a cult following for its quirky pawns and charming jank, not to mention the diverse combat options that came with access to several unique vocations. All of that and more is expanded upon with DD2, while some of the mechanics have been simplified to make them more accessible, but still retaining that unapologetic focus on rewarding exploration at the heart of its gameplay. You are the Arisen, fated to confront the Dragon’s Dogma, and the initial path you take is a familiar one to those who played the original, but you’ll soon find that there’s more to this story than meets the eye.
