Dragon's Dogma 2

All Classes Explained

Dragon’s Dogma 2 has 10 classes that have currently been announced. These include 4 basic classes and 6 advanced ones. These are a core part of your character and your play style in the RPG. Your class determines how effective you are at range, up close, and how flexible you can be (for, example, serving a purely support role, or swapping between healing your party and dealing damage. Each one is unique from the other and able to take on both the small creatures in Vermund and Battahl and larger foes and bosses. The full list of classes is as follows:

The Fighter is your basic melee class.

Fighter

Excelling in melee combat, the fighter wields a sword and shield to both slash at foes and protect themselves from oncoming melee and ranged attacks. They are able to cut through groups of enemies quickly, however, they aren’t quite as deep in terms of abilities as many of the other classes.

They are one of the base classes in the game and are available for both you and your Pawns to use. Overall, they are a great all-around class to choose for new players and returning veterans.

The Archer serves as your basic, ranged class early-on.

Archer

Much like the Fighter, the Archer class is the default ranged class available right from the start of your journey. Using a bow, both you and your Pawns can target enemies from afar with a variety of arrows.

Additionally, you can target enemy weaknesses more precisely and support your Pawns from a distance.

The Mage offers a solid core set of spells to use.

Mage

Available from the beginning of the game, the Mage is one of the base classes in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Usable by your Pawns, as well as yourself, you can cast enchantments that boost your party’s weapons, heal your team, and perform powerful incantations.

As well as performing great single-target damage, the class can provide great area-of-effect damage with its spells when your party is surrounded.

The Thief is a quick, nimble class that can deal a lot of rapid damage.

Thief

The final base class in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is the Thief. This class attacks with deadly speed and even deadlier swings from its weapons. Daggers allow you to land consecutive swipes while remaining mobile and darting in and out from under the feet of enemies.

They are able to exploit openings, cling onto enemies more easily, and steal items from both enemies and NPCs.

The Sorcerer is a more specialized spellcaster, capable of dealing heavier damage and using stronger spells.

Sorcerer

Completely focused on magick attacks, the Sorcerer is able to use large landscape-shifting spells that can decimate large enemies, and bosses, and completely destroy groups of enemies. With a variety of elemental attacks granted by its staff, the Sorcerer can be incredibly effective if they have enough time to prep a spell.

This vocation can be used by your Pawns.

The warrior is a huge tanky class, able to withstand large attacks from enemies and bosses.

Warrior

Capable of landing damaging hits against a single target, the two-handed weapons the Warrior wields such as the greatsword can be charged to hit with even more power. Additionally, the beefy nature of the class means they can power through enemy counterattacks, stun enemies easily, and open them up for follow-up hits from your Pawns.

Both you and your Pawns can use this class.

The Trickster is capable of tricking foes and casting illusions to disorient enemies.

Trickster

By using its unique Censer weapon, the Trickster can use illusions to deceive enemies into fighting their own allies, allowing you to play a puppetmaster from afar. They can also boost the damage of your Pawns.

This class is exclusive to the Arisen and unavailable on Pawns.

The Warfarer is a brand-new flexible class that can dynamically switch weapons.

Warfarer

Brand new to this game, the Warfarer is able to use every weapon and learn different skills from all the other vocations in the game. This allows them to respond to any situation and use different tools for each situation that arises.

This class is exclusive to the Arisen and can’t be used by Pawns.

The Mystic Spearhand offers a unique blend of melee and magick damage.

Mystic Spearhand

The Mystic Spearhand is a more complex variant of the fighter, focused on using magick abilities, attacks, and combos to deal a lot of damage and successfully build an all-around character. The class is entirely new to this game but shares a lot of similarities with the Mystic Knight from the original.

The dual-spear is the Mystic Spearhand’s main weapon and it is exclusive to the class. This class also can’t be used by Pawns and is exclusive to the Arisen. We haven’t seen any gameplay yet of this class, but we will update this article once we have seen the class in action.

The Magick Archer is a more specialized and deeper variant of the Archer class.

Magick Archer

Like the Mystic Spearhand, we haven’t seen any gameplay of the Magick Archer. However, this ranged class is an advanced version of the basic archer, able to use a variety of spells and imbued arrows to attack a group of enemies or do greater damage. They are also able to heal Pawns and revive them off the ground, making them a great support class too.

The class can’t be used by Pawns themselves, however, as it is exclusive to the Arisen. We will update this section with gameplay once we have it.

That covers all 10 of the classes that have been confirmed so far in Dragon’s Dogma 2. There is a chance even more are set to be revealed after the game launches and potentially there could be some secret ones for us to discover in the game too.
