Dragon's Dogma 2

Dragon's Dogma 2 Save File Location Explained

By
Craig Robinson

So, it turns out there’s only one save file per account of "Dragon" iconDragon’s Dogma 2. If you intend on backing saves up, save scumming, or creating a new playthrough, then you’ll need to know the save file location for Dragon’s Dogma 2. Luckily for you, you can easily find it in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\SteamAccountID\remote\win64_save directory or something of the like, depending on your folder and drive setup. If you’re going to go to this save file folder we have some tips to share while you manually mess with your campaign.

With a bit of Rift Stone magic, you can summon your Save File Location in Dragon’s Dogma 2 to create new saves or save scum. Image via Capcom.

Where to find the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Save File Location

As mentioned, you will need to visit a folder on your PC to access the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Save File Location:

  • On your Windows PC: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\SteamAccountID\remote\win64_save.

The exact location may be different, depending on where your Windows is installed, and any other messing around you’ve done with custom directories with Seam installs. Please note the Steam Account ID should be the account ID of your Steam account. This is unique to you, and you can find that number by going to a Steam ID checker. If you only use one Steam account on your PC, then you’ll have one folder in the Userdata folder of Steam.

  • Linux: ~/.local/share/Steam/userdata/SteamAccountID/remote/win64_save
  • MAC: ~/Library/Application Support

When you get there, you’re looking for three files:

  1. data000.bin
  2. data001Slot.bin
  3. data00-1.bin

These files are config bins, main save files and slots, and last inn save locations. Feel free to store that entire folder somewhere safe as a backup and then delete the files if you want to start anew. Alternatively, if you’re save scumming, then back up the save, play on, and then if you mess up, you can put the old saves back in and overwrite the files.

It is worth mentioning that Capcom is looking into adding an additional playthrough slot for new games as of the day 1 community update post. So, you won’t have to mess around entirely with the save file location all that much for that reason in the very near future. How this is overlooked beats me, but it is what it is.

You are the Arisen, fated to confront the Dragon’s Dogma, and the initial path you take is a familiar one to those who played the original, but you’ll soon find that there’s more to this story than meets the eye.
