So, that wanna-be Khajiit by the market square told you that a beggar is making lots of money being a beggar? Well, now you have the ‘A Begger’s Tale’ quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2, and for a side quest, it’s awfully tricky despite dealing with a simple beggar. You’ll end up shadowing the beggar quite a bit, and you’ll even get some choices on how to progress the quest. So, with no further ado, here is a walkthrough for A Beggar’s Tale, along with an explanation of the choices and rewards for the quest.

This guide teaches you all there is to know about the ‘A Beggar’s Tale’ quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2, featuring a walkthrough and choice rewards.

A Beggar’s Tale Walkthrough

Okay, so for the most part, The Beggar’s Tale quest will require you to visit a few different locations at different times of the day. The location of the Beggar changes depending on the time of the day. Rather than standing around for half an hour in real-time, you can follow these general rules to find the Beggar at various locations.

  • Morning to Noon: Market Square Statue
  • Afternoon to early evening: Walter’s Tavern - The tavern by the beach in the slums
  • After dark: House at the bottom right tip of the Common Quarter against the city wall

(1 of 2) You can find the location of the pub that Albert goes to here on the city map.

Note that if you visit all of the locations while the Beggar is there, then you will get some dialogue with the beggar and some NPCs. Make sure to visit the beggar at Walter’s Tavern during the afternoon to see his girlfriend’s dialogue, and then again as soon as it gets dark, as the beggar will say something out loud and run off.

(1 of 2) The beggar runs into this house and locks the door behind him. He will stay inside temporarily, so hang around until you can enter and get his Beggar Garb.

You absolutely need to be at the Slums pub when it turns dark. Albert the beggar runs off to a house at the bottom right tip of the Common Quarter. He will enter a house and lock himself in for some time. Hang around the area for a few minutes, as he will leave behind his Beggar Outfit for you to loot. If you don’t grab it while he’s not in the house and the door is open, then the outfit disappears, and you must go back early dusk the following day. Picking up the Beggar Attire will tick off the next stage of the quest.

A Beggar’s Tale: Choices and Rewards

(1 of 2) Choose the NPC you want to give the Garb to, and you can come back a few days later to find the consequences and rewards of your actions.

With the Beggar’s Outfit in your inventory, you now have a choice to make to complete A Beggar’s Tale in Dragon’s Dogma 2. You can either:

  • Give the outfit to Celine, the Beastren at the Slums by Walter’s Tavern.
  • Hilda in Baldwin’s Estate in the Noble Quarter. The building is located behind the chapel and just below the Palace.

Depending on who you gave the Beggar’s Outfit to, the choice will affect your reward and the ending of the quest. Once you choose who to give it to, you will then have to wait around two days before returning to the NPC you gave the Outfit to.

The best option is to give the Beggar Outfit to Hilda, as you get a nicer reward, and it ends more neutrally. We have spoiler-boxed the endings to the quest based on the choice, just in case.

Hilda EndingShow Spoiler

Hilda gives you 3x Onyx and 900 XP for completing the quest. Albert, our low-life beggar then gets a job after Hilda puts him to shame.

Celine EndingShow Spoiler

Meanwhile, if you select Celine, then you find out that Celine went psycho mode and killed the beggar, and then herself. The guards tell you this information and then send you on your way. You’ll still get your XP for completing the quest, but there’s a monetary reward awaiting you this time.

We have not tried using Wakestones on either Celine or the Beggar. There’s potentially more to it, but we haven’t tested it yet due to the limited amount of Wakestones at this stage of the game. It’s perhaps something for someone brave enough to test at some point. and if we do, we’ll update it ourselves.

And there you have it, you now know how to complete the ‘A Beggar’s Tale’ quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Hopefully, you now know what you want to do to complete the quest and how you wish to end the quest line.
