Finishing Up Chapter 8

A Better Force Stealer

After you’ve met up with Dave, return to Cape Caem, give Cid the Monster Claw and have him upgrade your Force Stealer. To pass the time until he’s done, now is a good time to catch up on some hunts, if you haven’t been already. There were a few quests you couldn’t - or that were harder - to complete if you hadn’t been doing hunts. When the sword is ready return to Cid to pick up your Force Stealer II.

Objective Reward
For giving Cid a Monster Claw EXP 800 / Force Stealer II

The Hatchening

While you’re wasting time waiting for the Force Stealer to upgrade (again, presumably doing hunts) you might just get a call from Wiz, provided you rest enough, of course. The black Chickabo has hatched, and all you need to do to finish off his quest is return to the Wiz Chocobo Outpost and pay the chick a visit.

Objective Reward
For saving the Black Chickabo EXP 2,500

With that, you’re done doing side quests for now. There are a few outstanding ones, like Navyth’s invitation for you to catch big game fish, but as said earlier, that can wait until you have better gear. Other quests can be found in Costlemark Tower and Crestholm Channels, but those, too, can wait until you’re a little stronger, along with Formouth Garrison, Balouve Mines and Daurell Caverns. For now, however, you’ve conquered The Rock of Ravatogh, The Vesperpool, Myrlwood and Malmalam Thicket and finished up a number of questlines. Time to move on with the main story.

As you might have guessed, boarding the boat will put you on a course for Altissia, so when you are finally finished with everything you want to do, use the elevator at the lighthouse to get to the boat. Before you go down, you’ll see Umbra once more and can send another message to Luna. At the bottom of the elevator, walk down the stairs and there will be a short scene, but before talking with Cor after that, go towards the boat and around the corner to find a Hi-Potion. Speak with Cor to get a Magic Flask , then finally board the boat to end the chapter.

Objective Reward
For sailing to Altissia EXP 1,000

After a years-long cold war between the Kingdom of Lucis and the empire of Niflheim over the world’s last crystal, an armistice is finally agreed upon. As part of the peace treaty, the heir to the Lucian throne Noctis Lucis Caelum is to marry Lady Lunafreya Nox Fleuret, an oracle from the imperial province of Tenebrae. After Noctis sets out to meet his betrothed, the treaty collapses. Merely a ruse to bring down the magical barrier protecting Lucis, Niflheim invades and takes the kingdom and the crystal for itself. With the treaty in tatters and his father and betrothed believed dead, Noctis must rely on his own tenacity and the support of his band of loyal followers to get him through what is to come.
