Howling Winds of Hunger

Level Target Habitat Reward
2 Sabertusks (x7) The Weaverwilds (All Times) 1 Star, 740 Gil, Hi-Elixir

This is probably the first hunt most players will do, and as your initial hunt, it’s pretty simple, Just head northeast of the Hammerhead outpost and kill the seven Sabertusks wandering around that are marked on your minimap. Even when first starting out, these are some of the easiest enemies in the game. They are only level 2 and weak to daggers, firearms, and ice, while resistant to fire and holy.

Varmints of the Wastelands

Level Target Habitat Reward
5 Mesmenir (x5) The Weaverwilds (Daytime) 1 Star, 980 Gil, Hi-Elixir

Slightly sturdier than the Sabertusks, you’ll find this herd of Mesmenir in the wilderness southwest of the Hammerhead outpost, past a rocky ridge. They are level 5 and weak to greatswords, daggers and fire, while being resistant to ice and holy.

The first few hunts can get you used to the battle system (left). Don’t forget to use the environment to your advantage (right).

Gorgers in the Dust

Level Target Habitat Reward
7 Flexitusk (x3) Ostium Gorge (All Times) 1 Star, 1,570 Gil, Iron Bangle

You’ll find the Flexitusks (stronger versions of the Sabertusk) a good hike to the east of the Hammerhead oasis. If you’re low level, be wary of these critters, as they’re far sturdier than Sabertusks. Fortunately there are plenty of elevated places for you to warp to, if you’re pressured. They are level 7 and mirror the weaknesses/strengths of the Sabertusks.

Raindrops in the Night

Level Target Habitat Reward
15 Jumbo Flan (x1) The Weaverwilds (Nighttime) 2 Stars, 2,390 Gil, Megalixir

Requires Hunter Rank 2 . You better be packing some elemental spells for this hunt, as the Jumbo Flan is resistant to all physical attacks. Any of the elements will work here, especially if you can manage to get them to the second tier, preferably Dualcast or Tricast. As with nighttime hunts, the target will not appear until you reach the marker itself. You can find the Jumbo Flan northwest of the Cotisse Haven. Since it’s only a single enemy, you shouldn’t have to worry too much, unless other daemons spawn nearby. It is level 15 and as mentioned before, resists all physical weapons, while being only weak to Holy.

Some hunts are only available at night, so you might need to wait until night rolls around, although you are given the option to wait when accepting the hunt.

Wild Beauties

Level Target Habitat Reward
22 Anaklaban (x3) The Weaverwilds (Daytime) 2 Stars, 3,350 Gil, Megalixir

Requires Hunter Rank 3 . Anaklabans are giraffe-like monsters and you will find them southwest of Formouth Garrison, which is southeast of the Prairie Outpost. They have quite a bit of health at level 22 and can be hard to hit sometimes, as they are rather tall and you can’t likely stay in the air too long at the point this becomes available. They are weak to greatswords, polearms and lightning, while being strong against ice and holy.

Bounty-Hunted Beauties

Level Target Habitat Reward
28 Anakadom (x3), Anak (x3) The Weaverwilds (Daytime) 2 Stars, 4,220 Gil, Megalixir

Requires Hunter Rank 3 . This hunt is just east of the Norduscaen Blockade parking spot, so it’s much easier to just head there with your car. You will find that this hunt is very similar to the previous one, except you’ll be facing two different enemies here, level 9 Anaks and level 28 Anakadoms (three of each). All of them have the same weaknesses and strengths as the Anaklabans from Wild Beauties, so there’s nothing new there. The Anak should go down fairly easy because of their low levels, but the Anakadoms might be a bit more of a problem, as they’ll take longer because of their increased health.

After a years-long cold war between the Kingdom of Lucis and the empire of Niflheim over the world’s last crystal, an armistice is finally agreed upon. As part of the peace treaty, the heir to the Lucian throne Noctis Lucis Caelum is to marry Lady Lunafreya Nox Fleuret, an oracle from the imperial province of Tenebrae. After Noctis sets out to meet his betrothed, the treaty collapses. Merely a ruse to bring down the magical barrier protecting Lucis, Niflheim invades and takes the kingdom and the crystal for itself. With the treaty in tatters and his father and betrothed believed dead, Noctis must rely on his own tenacity and the support of his band of loyal followers to get him through what is to come.
