Galloping Garulas¶
Level | Target | Habitat | Reward |
---|---|---|---|
12 | Green Garula (x3), Garula (x3) | Alstor Slough (Daytime) | 2 Stars, 2,010 Gil, Hi-Elixir |
The Garulas you are looking for are located east of the northern tip of the slough. The normal Garulas you should be used to, as there are plenty to be found around the Alstor Slough area, and the Green Garulas are nothing more than slightly stronger versions of those. Both share the same weaknesses (greatswords, firearms, and fire) and strengths (ice and holy), so you don’t have to worry about switching tactics when you do this hunt.
Beasts Wallow in the Wetlands¶
Level | Target | Habitat | Reward |
---|---|---|---|
14 | Yellowtooth (x5) | Alstor Slough (All Times) | 2 Stars, 2,330 Gil, Warrior’s Anklet |
You will find the Yellowtooths on the eastern side of the slough, slightly northeast of the Neeglyss Pond fishing spot. They are similar to Voretooths, so you should treat them as such, since you fight so many in Duscae. The Yellowtooths are level 14 and are weak to polearms, shields and ice, while being resistant to fire and holy.
Untamed Wild Horses¶
Level | Target | Habitat | Reward |
---|---|---|---|
25 | Spiracorn (x7) | Alstor Slough (Daytime) | 2 Stars, 3,870 Gil, Megalixir |
Requires Hunter Rank 3 . You will find these enemies on the southern side of the large rock formation that’s on the western side of the slough. Spiracorns can be nasty enemies, especially being at level 25, and there are a total of seven of them you’ll have to fight at the same time. Playing defensively might be a good idea until you dwindle the numbers down a bit, either by using the weak weapons (swords and shields) or by using fire spells. Another thing you can do is just hold down Square/X to dodge all of the mayhem and also trigger the block/parry.
Reign Triumphant¶
Level | Target | Habitat | Reward |
---|---|---|---|
32 | Garulessa (x1), Garula (x5) | Alstor Slough (Daytime) | 3 Stars, 5,280 Gil, Mega Phoenix |
Requires Hunter Rank 4 . You may have seen a Garulessa with a pack of Garulas when exploring the Alstor Slough area of Duscae. They are pretty much just overgrown Garulas and act as such, so you should be used to fighting them. This pack will be just about the “The” of The Nebulawood on your map. The Garulessa shares a few weaknesses with its lesser brethren, mainly the greatsword and fire, but instead of being weak to firearms, it is weak to machinery. Boasting a close 75k HP, it will take a bit of time to whittle its health down.
The Rogues of Rydielle Ley¶
Level | Target | Habitat | Reward |
---|---|---|---|
35 | Cockatrice (x3) | Rydielle Ley (Daytime) | 3 Stars, 5,880 Gil, Mega Phoenix |
Requires Hunter Rank 4 . Cockatrices are something you might not have seen yet in the game if you’ve been actively doing hunts. They are level 35 big bird-like creatures that can certainly pack a wallop, so taking on three at once might be a little intimidating. If you head straight west from Coernix Station - Alstor, then you might want to be careful, as you might run into a level 53 Griffon, who is leagues tougher than the Cockatrices.
As for the feathery friends you’ll be plucking soon, they are level 35 and have almost 70k health, each. This means it will be a long battle, so make sure you’re using their weaknesses against them (greatswords, machinery and fire) and try not to use their strengths (ice and holy). Play a little more defensively here and try to look out for opportunities to parry. They can also poison you, so keep an eye out for their spit attack.
Marsh Madness! The Giant Awakens¶
Level | Target | Habitat | Reward |
---|---|---|---|
38 | Catoblepas (x1) | Alstor Slough (All Times) | 3 Stars, 6,560 Gil, Blue Choker |
Requires Hunter Rank 4 . Woohoo, it’s finally time to fight one of those large creatures you’ve been looking at swimming in the water at Alstor Slough. As you might expect, this thing is large and in charge, sporting around 113,000 health. It is very possible that it can put you into Danger in one or two hits, so don’t go crazy and just keep attacking it without worrying about dodging. The Catoblepas’s damage will mostly come from it swinging its neck/head around, as well as its feet, so you’ll want to be careful about staying near its feet for too long.
Also, when you see the creature stand on its hind legs, get ready to block, as it will come crashing down, leading to a parry, followed by a counter. One more attack to watch out for is a gust of air it blows out of its nose, but it’s pretty easy to dodge if you’re paying attention. One of the important things to keep in mind in this battle is that the Catoblepas is very tall and should you happen to warp-strike its head, you will want to keep an eye out for fall damage on the way back down. This can be remedied by warping whenever you’re close to the ground, utilizing a point-warp or even changing targets and warp-striking one of its feet.
